About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a laboratory cabinetry solicitation issued by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center - Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL). The Q&A addresses technical specifications for laboratory cabinets, including clarifications on cabinet dimensions, installation requirements, and sink inclusion. Key clarifications include confirming wall cabinet heights with corrected measurement notations, verifying a 4.5" installation gap between cabinets and wall, and confirming that a sink should be included in the long cabinet section as specified in Appendix C, Item 6.

The related solicitation (W9132T25QA008) seeks laboratory grade cabinetry, chemical-resistant worksurfaces, and a sink for a laboratory space improvement project. Vendors are required to submit technical descriptions with product literature demonstrating compliance with solicitation requirements. All correspondence, including questions and offer submissions, must be sent to CERL-CT-Quotes@usace.army.mil by the specified deadline, with telephone responses explicitly not accepted.

Laboratory Cabinets Q&A

Questions:

(1) Wall cabinets are 13D vs 14 (specs say 14in 3in so not sure what that means) height is 36” (again not sure what 36in 3In means)?

(2) There is a note under section C that states 4.5” gap between short segment of long cabinets and the wall behind it. If we are keeping the surface 24”D then assuming this is for install purposes only and not that we need a deeper surface correct?

(3) Are we including the sink? If so what option do you want us to include?

Answers:

(1) After receiving this question, we reviewed the scope as it is written in the solicitation and realized that our contract writing system removed multiple iterations of a “plus or minus” symbol from the description. Anywhere that it shows something like what is referenced in the question “14in 3in” there should be a “±” symbol. This impacts the following lines of the description:

Wall cabinets: a.1, a.2, a.3, Islands/Worksurfaces: b.2 Long cabinets w/sink: c.5

(2) (Appendix D.) That is correct, we simply want them installed so there is a gap between the wall and the cabinets. The countertop depth should be 24in

(3) Yes, we would like the sink included in the long cabinet section. (Per Appendix C., Item 6)
