Q&A As of 22 August 2023

Question 1: There was a potential discrepancy noted regarding CLIN 0010 for the Flexural Test Fixture 100kN.

Answer 1: The intent is that each of the fixtures are extensions of the lower load capacity fixture and that they meet specific test requirements. This was not conveyed very well in this section. Testing would be conducted on a specimen that is 2 in x 2 in and have spans ranging from 2 to 10 times the depth. The requirements document was adjusted to reflect this.

Question 2: There was a potential discrepancy noted regarding CLIN 0011 for the Flexural Test Figure 250kN.

Answer 2: The intent is that each of the fixtures are extensions of the lower load capacity fixture and that they meet specific test requirements. This was not conveyed very well in this section. The actual requirement based on testing procedures is not 24 inches and this number should have been adjusted. To meet C1609 specimens are at max 3 in x 3 inch cross section (fiber lengths are usually not greater than 1 inch) and at least 14 inch in length. Other composite based tests may have span/depth of up to 16 or specimens that are 1 inch in depth. The requirements have been updated to reflect this.

Question 3: Does the environmental chamber require humidity control capabilities?

Answer 3: Humidity chamber is not required for this contract.
