SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been added by full text:

ANSWERS TO REQUEST FOR INFORMA

1. Does power and communications need to be maintained to the gate house?

RESPONSE: Power and communications service to the gate house may be taken out of service for the minimum extent of time necessary to efficiently accomplish the work. The Contractor shall notify the Contracting Officer a minimum of 14 days prior to each proposed disruption of a utility service.

2. Does water need to be maintained to the bathhouse on the circle?

RESPONSE: Water service to the restroom may be taken out of service for the minimum extent of time necessary to efficiently accomplish the work. The water line shall be returned to service as soon as feasible. The Contractor shall notify the Contracting Officer a minimum of 14 days prior to each proposed disruption of a utility service.

3. Is public access to be maintained across the dam?

RESPONSE: The dam crest road will be closed to traffic during construction work in the roadway.

4. Do you know when the dam was last paved? Do you know the condition of the existing gravels beneath the road?

RESPONSE: There was some paving work done in 1987 along the dam crest road and some additional paving work done in 2000. Neither was a complete replacement of the pavement or base course. As the existing pavement shows no signs of failure, it is expected that the underlying gravel is in good condition.

5. The plan is saying to match the existing pavement markings, and that they are only requiring edge lines around the turnaround at the end of the roadway. However, it looks as though it is/was a parking area in the overhead map. Can you just verify for me what will need to be painted there? I am assuming we stick to the noted white edge line atop new pavement, and no parking spaces in cul de sac nor in front of office building.

RESPONSE: As stated in Note 6 on Sheet C‐101, new pavement markings shall be provided at the turnaround to match the existing pavement markings. The roadway marking stripe shall be painted on both sides of the reconstructed roadway. On the upstream side of the road, the marking stripe shall extend from the beginning of the proposed stone trench (approximately Sta. 9 + 05) to the beginning of pavement markings within the turnaround (approximately Sta. 1+50). On the downstream side of the road, the marking stripe shall extend from the stone swale (approximately Sta. 9 + 10) to the beginning of the pavement markings within the turnaround (approximately Sta. 1+50).
