Questions for Fire House Project

1. Q: Can we bid translucent panels in lieu of polycarbonate as specified?

A:

2. Q: Can you confirm the size of the underground storage tank(s) to be removed?

A: 1,500 gallons

3. Q: Can you confirm the contents of the tank?

A: Tank was capped per DHEC requirements

4. Q: Will the contents of the underground storage tanks be removed before the tanks are demolished? If so who is responsible for removing the contents?

A: Tank was capped

5. Q: Section A1/AD103 shows high bay windows to be demolished. We assume these are the high bay windows with asbestos caulking. The drawings don’t show all elevations. Are these the only high bay windows with asbestos caulking?

6. Q: Is the demolition of the building addition that is to be demolished complete on plan left to be included in Base Bid Bid Item 2 Renovation or Bid Item 3 Carport Paving?

A: See AD101. Demolition of facility left of grid line 1 will be included in the base bid.

7. Q: Which are required OM3 or OM4 cable for the “4 jack telecom outlets” (2/E‐008)

8. Q: The Telecom Single Line Diagram (7/E‐008) shows a 12‐strand fiber optic cable and a 150‐pair copper service cable running out from the Telecom Room “to existing man hole.” Is this something we will be providing as well? Where is the manhole? Do we need to provide labor and materials for splice cases in the man hole? There is basically no information for this item.

9. Q: The Data Rack Elevation (1/E‐008) diagram shows two fiber patch panels, at the top of each data rack. However, Key Note 2 (which points to a Cat 6 copper patch panel at the bottom of data rack 1) states to “utilize patch panels for fiber optic cable terminations for the SIPRnet.” I’m not sure I understand this – did they mean to make that note pointing to a third fiber patch panel at the bottom of rack 1? What, then, are the two fiber patch panels at the top going to be used for, other than the aforementioned 12‐strand fiber?

10. Q: Are the 2‐post racks in the MDF, or enclosed cabinets?

11. Q: Are there any records of the existing berm and what type of fill was used to create the berm? Can it be re used as fill material onsite?

12. Q: Will the new HVAC System need to tie to existing Base wide Automated Logic Energy Management System?

A: Yes, the systems need to connect to the existing Automated Logic DDC system by Harris.

13. Q: Will the new Electrical system need Energy Monitoring tied to existing Automated Logic Energy Management System?

A: Yes, the smart meters called out on E060 shall be monitored by the base DDC system by Harris.

14. Q: What Division will be responsible to supply Power Meter tied to existing Automated Logic Energy Management System?

A:DWG typically avoids getting between contractors on who will be providing what. I would expect whatever Division to provide it where the information is shown. But the different contractors need to coordinate amongst each other to work this out if there is a question. In this case, the meter information is shown on the electrical drawings.

15. Q: Will the new Natural Gas Meter be tied to existing Automated Logic Energy Management System?

A: Yes, see Detail 11 on P003

16. Q: What Division will be responsible to supply Gas Meter tied to existing Automated Logic Energy Management System?

A: See response to question 3 above. In this case, the meter information is shown on the plumbing drawings.

17. Q: Will the new Potable Water meter be tied to existing Automated Logic Energy Management System?

A: Yes, see Detail 4 on P003

18. Q: What Division will be responsible to supply Water Meter tied to existing Automated Logic Energy Management System?

A: See response to question 3 above. In this case, the meter information is shown on the plumbing drawings.

19. Q Will a point list be generated for the Energy Management System?

A: We would expect this to be provided by Harris during shop drawing phase.

20. Q: Will this Redesign of building need additional Forced Shut Down panels?

A: Not understanding the question, could you please clarify.

21. Q: If new Force Shut Down Panels are needed what location will they be needed?

A: Not understanding the question, could you please clarify.

22. Q: The specs call for 4 different roles for supervision on this project. It also states that no on person may have more than one role. While that is understandable on multiple projects at the same location, this is 1 project. It can save some money off the project if the Superintendent were able to fill dual roles such as superintendent/QAQC

23. Q: This job will be won by lowest price according to my understanding

a. Will lowest price be determined by which of the following?

i. Base bid – renovation and new construction

ii. Base bid + Alternate/options

A: Base bid which will include CLINS 0001 and 0002, and then options as funding is available.

24. Q: Under sealed concrete there is no specification that I see. What sealer is to be used?

25. Q: The sealer is to be installed on the existing concrete. Spec states to blast the floor to CSP 3-5, but should this be CSP-1? CSP 3-5 is too deep for a sealer. Please clarify.

26. Q:The finish schedule shows EPF‐1 to be Stonhard Stonclad. There are 4 types of Stonclad each different (G2,GR,GS or HT). Which is basis of design?

27. Q: We are a manufacturer’s representative for the HVAC industry in Columbia. Currently we are bidding to several mechanical contractors on the McEntire Repair and Add Fire Station.
