Questions and Answers

Question 1. – Upon reviewing the prints and specifications we do not see where this solicitation calls out for fertilizing and seeding the berm after completion.

Answer – No. The P&S for this solicitation do not require fertilizing and seeding.

Question 2. - Has any material from virgin cuts been placed in the DMMA since the geotechnical data was collected? If so, can the government provide the volume of the virgin material?

Answer - The borings of Disposal Area "E" were performed between 2000 and 2003. Since that time frame, there has NOT been any specified dredging of virgin material through, say, enlargement of the Calcasieu River Ship Channel, or any other project in the area, which would have entailed placement of virgin material into Disposal Area "E". The only virgin material that would might been placed within Disposal Area "E" would have been simply incidental virgin material as a result of excessive dredging in the side slopes or over depth.

Question 3. - Is there a required compaction specification for the Dike’s?

Answer - See Section 31 24 00.00, Embankment, paragraph 3.5.2 Placement, Spreading, and Compaction. Compaction to the typical 90 or 95 percent maximum dry density is not required for this contract.
