There are no design elevations and contours for the intended finished grade of the beach placement site at Whaler Island.
2 Are hydraulic methods of dredge allowed for the removal of the material from the main channel to be placed at Whalers Island? i.e. Small cutterhead dredge with pipeline that directly discharges onto the placement site.
Yes, hydraulic methods of dredging are allowed for the removal of the material from the entrance channel to be placed at Whaler Island.
3 Can the dredge material to be used as beach fill on
Whalers Island be bottom dumped near shore directly from the dump scow? Beach equipment such as long reach excavators would then be used to shape the material per the provided contours.
The dredged material must be disposed within the Whaler Island boundaries shown on Sheet G-03. The Crescent City O&M Dredging Project doesn’t include the shaping of the material at Whaler Island.
