QUESTIONS & ANSWERS TO RFQ
ATOMIC ABSORPTION
REQUIREMENT W912NW-24-Q-0033
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Question 1: Are there any other technical specifications? Such as Flame model or Graphite furnace model, single beam or double beam and elements to be measured?
Answer 1: No technical specifications. It shall be a flame model, double beam, elements to be measured include:
zirconium (Zr), silver (Ag), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), calcium (Ca), and magnesium (Mg).
Question 2: What is the sample matrix? For example, is there high salt concentration, residual oil in the water, or high suspended solids or particulates, etc.?
Answer 2: The sample matrix does not have high salt concentration, oils or high suspended solids or particulates.
Question 3: What is lab’s sample throughput? How many samples are you testing a day?
Answer 3: Approximately 5 samples, 3 calibration standards, and a check standard. Each analyzed for 7 elements each. There will be a total of 63 analysis conducted in 1 day. An auto sampler is included in the SOW to assist with this process.
Question 4: What are the techniques or instruments you are currently using to analyze your samples?
Answer 4: Currently using Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP OES). However, this instrument uses too many resources and is takes much longer compared to the atomic absorption spectrometer.
Quesiton 5: Does your lab follow any standardized testing?
Answer 5: Yes, the Atomic Absorption will be used in a standardized testing process to include calibration standards and a standardized procedure to view the elements in question.
Question 6: What elements are you interested in analyzing?
Answer 6: See Question and Answer 1.
