2. Foundation: Pavilion has eight (8) columns that require a 2’x2’x3’ deep footing. Footing shall be reinforced with #4 rebar cage. Provide four (4) ½”x 12” anchor bolts per column set in concrete. Elevation for the top of each column foundation shall be equal to the bench mark noted on the drawing. Footings shall run parallel with the existing sidewalk.

See drawing for details.

a. Picnic Tables: Two (2) government provided picnic tables with seating will require contractor installation. See detail drawing for foundation design and location. Set tables with seating at 18” above finished floor.

Column Foundation

Concrete Foundation for Government Furnished Tables

3. Concrete Pavement: Concrete flat work is approximately 1500 SF of 4” thick, 4000 psi concrete with 6x6-8/8 wwf reinforcement. Provide 4” of compacted rock base under all concrete work. All areas outside of the actual pavilion footprint shall be floated, edged with broom finish. Match existing concrete finish. Area within the pavilion footprint shall be edged and trowel finished. Pavilion floor shall be raised in the middle no more than 1-½” from the perimeter to allow positive drainage. All concrete shall be saw cut 1- ½” deep as shown on the drawing. Butt joints with existing concrete surfaces shall be doweled with #4 rebar every 3’, install an expansion joint and joint sealant. Butt joints with asphalt track will require the asphalt to be cut square and joint sealant applied once concrete has cured. Pavilion concrete floor shall be level around the perimeter and level with the column foundations. Provide expansion joint material and sealant around each column to separate from the floor. Concrete connecting to existing sidewalk shall be level with the sidewalk. All concrete outside the pavilion footprint shall slope away from the pavilion for positive drainage. Slope shall not exceed a 2% unless approved by the contracting office representative.

a. Site Entrance: Access to the site with all equipment and materials shall be through the existing fence line. A section of fencing in the southwest corner shall be taken down and stored for reuse. The contractor is responsible for opening up sufficient space for all deliveries and construction vehicles for this project. No vehicles shall be on the existing pavements inside the fenced area.

The contractor shall be extremely careful of the existing rubberized running track and no materials, equipment or vehicles should ever be on the track. The contractor will be responsible for any damage to the running track or existing pavements. Contractor will reinstall the fencing, regrade any sod, and seed as needed.

a. Columns: Provide eight (8) 4” O.D. steel pipe, .318” nominal wall thickness support columns with a 3/8”x10”x10” steel plate welded to the bottom with a 5/8” hole drilled in each corner matched to anchor bolt pattern in the foundation. The top of the post gets a “U” shaped bracket of 1/4” steel (see detail) welded to the top of the 4” column post. Mechanically attach the columns to the footings and set plumb and level. Use four (4) galvanized ½”x5 1/2” carriage bolts with nut and washer to through bolt the parallam beam to the steel bracket.

b. Split Block: Lay 8”x8”x16” split face block in a 2’x2’ column to a height of

9’, to include a solid cap block to seal the top. Block shall be standard gray color with uncolored mortar mix.

c. Structure: Install two (2) 3 ½”W x 11 7/8”T x 36’8”L Parallam beams rated for exterior use. Set beams in welded brackets at the top of each column and use four (4) ½” x 5 1/2” galvanized carriage bolts to sandwich the beam with the bracket and secure the nuts and washers. Set and secure with deck screws wooden scissor trusses at 2’ o.c. with a full gable truss at each end. Nail 4’x8’x5/8” plywood horizontally across the trusses and sheet the exterior side of the gables. Trusses should have an 18” overhang past the column face on all sides. Attach a 2x6 dimensional lumber to the trusses for a fascia.

Construction shall be in compliance with all industry standards and practices.

d. Roof System: Install a standing seam metal roof system manufactured by a Metal Roofing Alliance member using 24 gauge metal with factory finished bronze color and 16” spacing on standing seams. Provide manufacturer recommended underlayment. Provide matching trim, fascia wrap, soffit, gutters and downspouts. Provide 5” gutters and downspouts with matching finish to roof system. Secure downspouts with two straps per downspout.

Soffit shall have a vented soffit every 4’. Provide three (3) matching 12” square vents for south side of roof. Install roof system per manufacturer’s recommendation and obtain a 20 year leak proof warranty. Gable siding shall be a steel vertical or horizontal panels with finish matching the roof.

e. Finishes: Finished ceiling will be 2”x6” T&G SPF select, V-joint face decking lumber running horizontally with hidden nailing. Use decking material to enclose the space above each column to ceiling and to side the inside of each gable. Decking shall run from peak to parallam beam. Decking shall be stained and two full coats of exterior grade clear semi-gloss finish applied to the decking. All finishes shall be evenly applied and all other surfaces shall be protected from overlap or spilling.

5. Electric: Three (3) 20Amp, 120v circuits shall be provided for the pavilion from the existing power panel on site. Provide breakers, 12 gage wire and three (3) 1” conduits from power panel to pavilion. Conduits shall be bored under the existing sidewalk with one coming up into the northwest column for routing the three circuits. The spare two conduits shall be turned up on the outside of the concrete slab and capped for future use.

Provide an exterior single gang duplex outlet at each column as shown on the drawing set at 48”H. Divide outlets equally into two circuits. Outlets shall be grounded, GFCI protected with a weather proof cover. Install six (6) 44 watt, 4900 delivered lumens LED exterior grade square canopy lighting fixture with lens. Fixture has an output equivalent to a 100-watt pulse start metal halide or approved equal. Two (2) of the canopy lighting will be on overnight and shall be controlled by a separate switch and photocell. Surface mount light fixtures as shown on the drawings. Operate remaining four (4) canopy lights from a single weather proof switch. Locate light switches together in double gang box.

Provide an LED 18watt, 1351 Lumens, 300W halogen equal wall mounted flood light with photocell on the east exterior side of the pavilion at the peak of the gable. Flood light shall be operated by a single weatherproof switch. All fixtures shall be bronze color.

Light switches and outlets shall be brown with stainless steel or brown cover plates.

6. Drainage System: All eight (8) downspouts shall terminate into 6” PVC, schedule 40, drain pipe set 1’ above finished concrete with a transition cap funneling downspouts into pipe. The 6” PVC will go underground to a 90 degree sweep and flow out according to the attached drawing. All piping shall be glued and laid with positive flow outward at no less than a 2% fall. All piping shall daylight at existing ditch or near fence line.

7. Site Work: Rock area, finish grade with contractor provided top soil, compacted within 4” to the top of concrete. Provide 4” metal edging as shown on the drawings level with top of concrete. Lay heavy duty landscaping fabric down and cover with 4” of “Crusher Run” road rock. Rake the rock smooth and level and transition to existing rock along the fence lines. Provide topsoil along east concrete as needed to transition from new concrete to existing grass. Provide fescue mix grass seed to new topsoil and rake in.
