Question and Answer – Amendment 2 W912MM17T0006 ‐ A/V Upgrades for
Bldg 49 Classroom & Bldg 13 Conference Room
25 May 2017
Q1. In reviewing the Q&A generated from the site visit I see in section 3.f. “(6) additional inputs to be wireless”. Is this the government’s final position on this? The HDMI over wireless devices are not the most robust and are often susceptible to interference. If this is to be the requirement wouldn’t there only need to be a total of (2) – one per projector? You couldn’t have more than one laptop streaming to the projector at a time…just my .02.
A1. Only one device will be streamed to a projector at a time, but may have 2 projectors running simultaneously.
So two total, one per projector would meet the minimum requirement.
Q2. Is there power, above the ceiling, at the three prospective projector locations?
A2. There are currently 2 projects and we are requesting they be upgraded. There is power to the two projectors and there will only be 2 projectors.
Q3. Amendment 1 ‐ Conference Room states that all equipment is to be located inside the podium. Can you please provide the inside dimensions of the aforementioned podium?
A3. Dimensions of cabinet space behind the door: 23.5" H x 28" W x 28" D. There is one shelf that is adjustable/removable.
Q4. For the Bldg. 49 Classroom, it is requested that six (6) video inputs need to be wireless, and be able to split the wireless video feeds amongst the east and west rooms. Many wireless video products allow 6 or more devices to simultaneously connect to a single receive unit wirelessly, and then display one of the multiple connected devices as a single full image, or display multiple connected devices on the screen at once, such as a quad display with four images visible at one time. Would a single receive unit, capable of handling 6 or more originating wireless devices (laptops, tablets, phones, etc.) satisfy the six wireless video requirements? We would need two of them to satisfy the ability to divide the room into two separate rooms, but that is more manageable than having six individual wireless units.
A4. As defined in the solicitation, 8 total inputs required. Two at the front wall (one tethered to a podium w/a stationary computer and additional input for plugging in another source as needed) and 6 additional inputs in the room that may be divided into 2 separate rooms (only 1 input will be displayed at any time, which may be one per room if the room is divided).
Q5. Which Operating Systems are required to work with the wireless video system – Windows, Apple iOS, Android, etc.?
A5. Windows is the required operating system.
Q6. Despite the room being unclassified, is it desirable to have a wireless system that does offer a level of encryption on the wireless video transmissions, or is cost the overriding factor and thus, paying more for encryption is not desired?
A6. The room is unclassified and no intent to become classified.
