5. Friable and non-friable asbestos containing material (ACM) was observed to be in fair to good condition at the time of the survey. Friable material in fair condition could pose a hazard to anyone working in the area or further damaging the material.

Recommendation: Work with the Asbestos Program Manager to design an annual or semi-annual inspection of all known asbestos containing materials to check for damage. The Asbestos Program Manager is responsible for “locating, identifying, and assessing the condition of all types of ACM or PACM” in their buildings. These inspectors should be trained by an EPA or Tennessee Accredited Asbestos Inspectors course. In addition, all ACMs in fair condition should either be removed or repaired to an intact condition as soon as feasibly possible.
