3.7.2 Midrails shall be erected halfway between the toprails and floor walking surface
3.7.3 End of toprails and midrails shall not overhang the terminal posts except where such overhang does not create a projection hazard
3.7.4 Toe boards shall be provided on all open sides or ends at locations where persons are required or permitted to pass or work under the elevated platform or where needed to prevent persons and material from falling from the elevated platform.
3.7.5 Toprail shall be capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 200 pounds applied within 2-inches of the top edge, in any outward or downward direction, at any point along the top edge

4.5.1 Bolts shall be smooth round-head or countersunk flat or smooth top.
4.5.2 All components shall be recessed or covered with accessible panels that do not allow aquatic species access to swim behind or under.
4.6 All tank components, valves, fittings, plumbing, fasteners, et cetera that are in any way connected to the water in the fish holding compartments, shall be free of lead, heavy metals, or any other contaminates in accordance with ANSI/NSF 61.
4.7 All components, valves, fittings, plumbing, fasteners, associated with the tanks or transport components shall be of corrosion resistant type.
4.8 All dissimilar metals immersed in water or used for water plumbing shall be insulated from each other to ensure no dielectric corrosion occurs.
4.9 Tanks shall not leak from any seam, joint, weld, flange, valve, or hardware connection.
4.10 Tanks shall be equipped with low point drain valves on all plumbing to facilitate winterization.
4.11 Unless otherwise authorized or specified, all welding shall be by an electric-arc welding process, using a method which excludes the atmosphere from molten metal. All welding shall be done in accordance with qualified procedures using performance-qualified welders and welding operators. Procedures and welders shall be qualified in accordance with AWS B2.1 or ASME IX as applicable. Welding procedures qualified by another employer may be accepted as permitted by ASME B31.1. All welds shall be free of imperfections such as pits, runs, spatter, cracks, and shall be the same color as the adjoining surfaces. Joints shall be prepared and welded by some process other than use of carbon-arc or any other process that permits or promotes carbon pickup. Butt weld joints made by welding straps under seams, by filling with solder, or by grinding, will not be acceptable. Welded joints shall be homogeneous with the sheet metal. In no case shall spot welding be substituted for full welding. Where sheet size requires a joint, such joints shall be fully welded.
4.14 All Where feasible, electrical wiring will be routed in rigid metal conduits, properly secured and shielded. Flexible cabling is acceptable over short distances for non-DOT accessories and lighting and those locations where rigid metal conduit is not feasible.
5.0 LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

The trailer weight, as well as wheel base and unit length information, shall be submitted to all required agencies by the Contractor to verify compliance with regulations. The trailer shall be road legal passing all required state and/or federal inspections. It shall be the Contractor’s responsibility to ensure that all of these required inspections have been conducted. The Contractor shall provide written verification of compliance with all requirements to the Government.
6.0 LOADING REQUIREMENTS AND HIEGHT RESTRICTIONS
The loading dock at the Lower Granite Fish Facility consists of two flumes that lower into the tank compartments.
The flumes are each 15” wide and spaced 10’-9” (129”) apart center-to-center. When loading multiple compartment tanks, both flumes are used simultaneous and require the hatches on the trailer to be spaced accordingly. The flume spacing results in loading every other compartment; either compartments 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. These flumes in their lowered position allow a maximum tank height of 9’-4” (112”) from the ground. The flumes lower from above the curb side of the trailer and therefore, nothing from the tank hatches to the curb side may exceed 9’-4” in height if it will cause interference with the flume. Handrail on the curb side of the tank may not exceed 9’-4” directly adjacent to loading hatches without provision to remove or swing a portion away to facilitate the lowering of the loading flumes. Aerators, vents, handles, latches, and lighting may exceed this height requirement if they are located in a way that does not interfere with the flumes.

7.4.6.5 Care must be taken in the selection and tightening of stainless steel fasteners to minimize potential galling with the stainless steel base metals. Nitronic 60 (N-60, UNS S21800) stainless steel fasteners shall be used to minimize potential galling with the 304L stainless steel base metal.
7.5 Outer Shell Jacketing
Outer jacketing shall be belly wrapped 24 gauge bright finish stainless steel with lapped seams and 20 gauge bright finish stainless steel heads lock seamed to jacketing. Jacketing shall be applied in a manner that provides an overall smooth, aesthetically pleasing final fit and finish while ensuring protection from wind driven water intrusion into the insulation. It shall be free from glaring imperfections or warps. Jacketing shall be provided with low point condensate drains.
7.6 Tank Insulation
The tank and trailer assembly will operate in ambient temperatures varying from 32 to 110 °F. The tank shall be well insulated between the inner tank and the outer jacketing. A minimum of 4” of closed-cell polyisocyanurate (polyiso) foam sheets providing a minimum R-value of 24 shall be used. The insulation shall be water absorption resistant, mold and mildew resistant and heat resistant over 200 °F. Insulation shall provide complete coverage between tank and jacketing with no gaps or missing areas.
