SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 1449 - CONTINUATION SHEET

The following have been modified:

SOLICITATION QUESTIONS

Vendor Questions Question 1). Is the motor seeing any thrust?

Answer: The vertical (thrust) load is negligible. The pump shaft has a thrust bearing that carries the weight of the shaft.

Question 2). If so I need to know the load (continuous, maximum momentary) Answer: See #1

Question 3). Up? Down? Up and Down? And the same data above for both directions.

Answer: See #1

Question 4). What is the "down thrust" requirement for the motors? Is it greater than 2,100 foot pounds/in?

Answer: See #1

Question 5). Any VFD involved?

Answer: No Variable Frequency Drive is used. The motor starts with a soft start that switches to bypass once the motor is up to speed.

Question 6). Do you have a name plate photo of the installed motor?

Answer: See attachment.

Question 7). Shaft Length: The specification called for a shaft length of 5.75". Is the shaft length of 5.75" from the motor face or is the 5.75" from the face of the mount?

Answer: Shaft must extend 5.75" below the motor mounting face as per the drawing.

Question 8). Does the install of the motors require mechanical representation or assistance from the winning firm.

Do we need to program in travel by techs or mechanics to support install? Is the ACOE taking responsibility for the install and start up?

Answer: This is a material only contract. Installation will be performed by the government.

Question 9). Because changes to increase motor efficiencies, motor sizes have forced to increase. Can the space take motor that is 87" in height? Is there a height limitation in the space? The motor in the ACOE drawing is an older model due to the changes in laws to increase electrical efficiencies motors is size are no longer made.

Manufactures have had to increase the motor length.

Answer: The drawings show the height available as 16' 2" above the mounting face. The contract specifies the maximum diameter but not the maximum height. A standard NEMA frame motor is desired. Please refer to technical specifications.

Question 10.) Will this solicitation accept these motors as rebuilds?

Answer: We only will accept new motors, please refer to the technical specifications.

W912EF17Q0131

Question 11.) We are looking at a 10 week lead time. ACOE will have to approve engineering drawings before motors will be built. Is this a problem in the contracting process?

Answer: Please refer to the shipment and delivery information in the technical specifications.

Questions 12.) Since this is a 4160v motor, I will need to know if the Soft‐start is Current Limiting or Voltage Ramp?

Answer: The soft‐start is capable of both voltage and current ramp modes of operation (Eaton Type MV801) ‐ A continuous duty NEMA rated motor will meet all of our needs

Question 13.) I will need the following information depending on the starting method:

‐Current Limiting ‐ Percentage of Full Load Amps Limit Time Load Inertia ( if not available ‐ NEMA maximum will be assumed) Speed‐Torque Curves Valve Condition ‐ Open or Closed ‐Voltage Ramp ‐ Initial Voltage Ramp Time Load Inertia (if not available NEMA maximum will be assumed) Speed‐ Torque Curves Valve Condition ‐ Open or Closed

Answer: Assume NEMA maximum values for parameters. This is a discharge pump so is not valved

Question 14.) Is the enclosure Open Drip or TEFC?

Answer: An Open Drip Proof (ODP) motor is adequate ‐ The location is indoors

Question 15.) Are there any accessories? (RTD's, Thermostats, Vibration monitoring, etc.)

Answer: None are required per the contract but any or all would be welcome

Question 16.) If the pump has a thrust bearing that carries the weight of the shaft, does it also carry any up‐thrust that may be present?

Answer: The pump shaft does not exert any up or down thrust on the motor. The shaft coupling is a floating coupling that eliminates thrust loads when properly adjusted.
