About this file
This document contains an amendment to a solicitation for an air conditioning replacement project at Building 540 at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico.
The amendment provides responses to vendor questions, revises the statement of work and drawings to reflect changes to the project scope. Key details include replacing a roof top unit with a computer room air conditioning unit, connecting new variable refrigerant flow units and the computer room air conditioning unit to the existing fire alarm system, and anchoring requirements for the variable refrigerant flow condensing units. The bid opening date remains unchanged at 180 calendar days for project completion.
The related federal contract opportunity pre-announcement provides additional context, with the solicitation number and awarding agency. The project type is for pre-solicitation notice, with an invitation for bid to be issued on or around August 5, 2021. The requirement is set aside for HUBZone small businesses, and the North American Industry Classification code is 238220 for plumbing, heating and air conditioning contractors. Answer: ARA Integrators Inc. 787-225-7637 (Kenneth).
2. Do you require a Smoke detector to supply and return the 8 ton unit?
Answer: This unit will be a computer room air conditioning unit (CRAC) instead of a Roof Top Unit (RTU). Instead of installing a new smoke detector, the new requirement is to install a new relay module near to the 8 r-tons condensing unit, this is in order to turn it off in case of a fire. Connect the new relay module to the nearest smoke detector.
Fire control panel programming is required with the intention of turning off all new VRF units and the 8 r-tons unit when a fire is detected by any of the smoke detectors in the project work area. See Attachment 02 – Drawings Rev 1. Page M-1 and Attachment 01
– SOW Rev 01. Was updated to change RTU to CRAC.

Answer: Instead of installing a new smoke detector, the new requirement is to install a new relay module near each 3 VRF condensing units, this in order to turn them off in case of a fire. Connect the each new relay module to the nearest smoke detector. Fire control panel programming is required with the intention of turning off all new VRF units and the 8 tons unit when a fire is detected by any of the smoke detectors in the project work area. See Attachment 02 – Drawings Rev 1, Page M-2.
8. Provide Existing Challenger MDP Panel board Model and Breakers model of the existing breakers. That will help to get replacement breaker for this panel board? Older panel boards have no replacement breaker.
