These items are future replacement parts for same parts now in service on the vessel.

All work shall be in accordance with the contract drawings and these specifications. Wherever the specifications differ from the drawing requirements, the specifications shall govern.

The contractor shall be responsible for furnishing all necessary labor, material, services and equipment necessary to fabricate, cast and/or forge and assemble, then preserve and package the parts as listed in these specifications.

C2 Drawings

The following drawings are a part of this specification and provide the available details for manufacturing of the required parts:

Drawing No. Revision and Date Title

MF-M6-12 (47490) 14, March 1989 Impellers for Dredging Pumps MF-M6-13 (47492) 5, 7 March 1989 Liners and Throat Pieces for Dredging Pumps MF-M6-14 (47493) 7, 9 May 1974 Stuffing Box, Gland, Flinger Ring, Etc. for Dredging Pump

C3 Patterns, Gauges and Rigs

The following Government-furnished patterns and equipment shall be used for manufacturing of the required parts:

Pattern No. Part Description

26813 Stationary Throat Piece 26814 Adjustable Throat Piece 26818 Water Ring

These items are currently stored at the Fort Mifflin Distribution Center (FMDC). The costs of shipping the patterns from FMDC to the casting site and returning the patterns to FMDC shall be included in the cost of the respective Line Item. The Government will provide loading and off-loading services.

The contractor shall take all necessary precautions to safeguard the aforementioned patterns and the crates in which they are shipped. Outside storage of any of these items or their respective shipping crates during the performance of the work listed herein is forbidden.

The contractor shall inspect all patterns and all crates at the time of delivery to assure all material is in satisfactory and useable condition. Any defects or problems shall be photographed and reported immediately in the way of a written Condition Report, including photographs of the problem areas, to the Contracting Officer and the Technical Representative. The contractor shall inform the Contracting Officer of the time and location of this inspection at least three working days in advance so that the Technical Representative may be present for the inspection.

The contractor shall be responsible for, at no additional cost to the government, preparing the patterns for molds and casting process. This shall include the filling of multiple small surface nicks, gouges, and other defects up to ½” deep x ½” wide x 6” long. Anything above and beyond this will be considered major repairs, which will be handled by a Modification of Contract.

The contractor shall assure that all raised pattern numbers are secured and attached on the patterns, any missing numbers and letters shall be replaced and re-installed in kind at no cost to the government. Any patterns without raised numbers or letters shall be provided by the contractor and installed at no cost to the Government as a part of the contractor’s preparation work. The contractor shall assure that all the raised numbers and letters appear clearly and legibly on the finished castings

All patterns shall be returned to a reusable and ready to use condition prior to being re-crated and returned to the government. This means any defects created by the mold and casting process shall be repaired, all patterns totally cleaned, and given a protective coating of a preservative compatible with the base material. Prior to re-crating, the contractor shall inform the Contracting Officer that the patterns are ready for re-crating at least seven working days in advance so that the COR may perform an inspection.

C4 Tolerance and Surface Finish Requirements

All dimensional tolerances shall be in accordance with Tables 3, 4 and 5 of ASTM Specification for Steel Castings, Designation No. ASTM-A27-05. The general tolerances for angles shall be +/- ½ degrees.

Except where noted, all machined surfaces shall be machined to a surface finish of 500 RMS.

All product tolerances shall be in accordance with Tables 1 of ASTM Specification for Steel Castings, General Requirements, for Pressure-Containing Parts, Designation No. ASTM-A703-05.

All undefined fillets and break edges shall be deburred and have no sharp edges.
