Chemical mowing and trimming are the terms used to describe the process of treating weeds and weedy grasses in sensitive areas with a chemical to inhibit growth. Mowing chemically retards the growth of the plant, while still allowing it to provide erosion protection. These two dissimilar treatments shall not be applied concurrently and will be ordered independently, dependent on the desired result for the area of treatment. The Contractor shall select the chemicals proven to achieve the results as specified in section 1.9.1 Attachment 1/Technical Exhibit 1- “Performance Requirements Summary” and in accordance with all portions of this PWS. Designated areas shall be treated using the required mixture and application rates per the manufacturer’s label to achieve results for the target species. d. Spot Treatment (Foliar). Herbicide treatment for brush control will be ordered when a risk of damage to nearby desirable vegetation is a concern or, low vegetative density allows for a more environmental friendly method. The use of an approved dye shall be used to verify 100% coverage of the designated area.
1. Spot Treatment – Non Woody-Grasses and Vines. Foliar treatment shall be ordered by task order and vegetation or areas to be sprayed will be marked by Government Representatives as needed and tabulated on task orders indicating the requirement for this application.
2. Spot Treatment – Woody Vegetation. Foliar treatment shall be ordered by task order and vegetation or areas to be sprayed will be marked by Government Representatives as needed and tabulated on task orders indicating the requirement for this application.
3. Spot Treatment in Rip Rap. Rip Rap is used exclusively to prevent erosion near water, where smaller concentrations of herbicide are desirable. Herbicide treatment for brush control in Rip Rap will be ordered when low vegetative density allows for a more environmental friendly method to be used. Treatment by foliar methods or as prescribed by Manufacturer’s labels and instructions to achieve the desired results. Rip Rap can pose extreme trip and fall hazards, concerns for mobility and access are additional factors during application and treatment of any vegetation in these areas.
4. Spot Treatment-Mole Bait Worm Application. Pesticide treatment for moles on flood control embankments shall be ordered when a significant population is present and spot treatment is required. Designated areas shall be treated using the bait type and application methods per the manufacturer’s label to achieve results for the target species. The Contractor shall insure results as specified in section 1.9.1 Attachment 1/Technical Exhibit 1- “Performance Requirements Summary” and in accordance with all portions of this PWS.

Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency has cancelled the product license for the product “Fenoycarb”; these products will not be approved and shall not be used. The Contractor shall insure results as specified in section 1.9.1 Attachment 1/Technical Exhibit 1- “Performance Requirements Summary” and in accordance with all portions of this PWS.
e. Facility Pest Control Treatment. Treatment shall provide control of the following pests: Brown recluse spiders, black widow spiders, fleas, ticks, clothes moths, house crickets, millipedes, earwigs, wasps, centipedes, yellow jackets, carpenter ants, house ants, pharoch ants, silverfish, rats, mice, smoky brown roaches, American roaches, oriental roaches and German roaches and termites.
Treatment shall contain the active ingredient Bifenthrin 7.9% or equal to. Similarly environmentally sound products may be considered and approved by the COR upon written request. Note: The Contractor is not required to treat termites through any means requiring mechanical excavation or sub soil treatment.
