ANSWERS TO FINAL QUESTIONS
CONSTRUCT CANOPY AT AMMUNITION SUPPLY POINT
W9124M20-B-0016
FS 4071
QUESTIONS/ ANSWERS
QUESTION 1:
Refer to Section C – Descriptions and Specifications / Technical Provisions General. Item 1.1.1 states to “Provide complete design,…..”. Define ‘complete design’. What level of design and design documents are required? Full blown engineered drawings and specifications prepared by architects and engineers? It appears that the structural concrete and electrical has already been designed. What type of specifications are required? Full specs created in SpecsIntact, or just notes on the drawings? Please provide further clarity on the level of design required as this can vary greatly in price.
RESPONSE:
TPG, Paragraph 1.1.1 speaks specifically to design, fabrication and installation of pre‐engineered metal building system, related foundation and 6” concrete slab.
Refer to Sheet 7 (A‐3) for Metal Building Design Criteria
Refer to Sheet 5 (A‐1) Foundation Notes for requirements in regard to foundation and slab.
Refer to Spec Section 13122, Meatal Building Systems, Part 1, Paragraph 1.02 Submittals for requirements.
QUESTION 2:
What is the preferred method of submitting RFIs for this solicitation?
Submit any RFI electronically to the Contract Specialist and Contracting Officer.
QUESTION 3:
a. What is the thickness of the existing concrete hardstand that is to be removed?
b. What is the thickness of the existing base and asphalt paving that is to be removed?
c. The pre‐solicitation in sam.gov contained the Technical Provisions, General (material specifications). The current solicitation in sam.gov does not now contain the Technical Provisions, General......will these Technical Provisions, General be re‐posted, or are we to use the same ones that were originally posted?
d. Are the factory‐primed ('red iron') surfaces of the pre‐engineered metal building to be finish‐painted?
e. Is the exposed conduit to be finish‐painted?
a. Variable thickness – 10” or less
b. Variable thickness – Base 6‐8” and Asphalt 3‐4”
c. MICC needs to answer. We do not have access to sam.gov
d. Refer to Sheet 7 (A‐3), Exterior Colors ‐ factory‐primed ('red iron') surfaces of Primary Columns and
Frames are to be finish painted to match exterior metal panel.
e. Exposed conduit at Primary Columns and Frames are to be finish painted to match exterior metal panel.
QUESTION 4:
a. Drawing A-3 calls for specific colors with codes. Do we need to figure custom colors for this building?
b. Drawing A-3 depicts the columns as straight. Can the columns be a tapered design (narrow at bottom, wider at top) if the 86’-4” inside clear is provided?
a. Specific color names are from specific manufacturers, matching colors from other manufacturers are acceptable. Codes / color numbers are just a generic way of specifying the particular colors that are acceptable. If a particular metal building manufacturer does not offer a matching color as standard, then they will need to provide custom color to match those specified.
b. Column shall be straight as indicated.
QUESTION 5:
a. Re: Technical Provisions 1.1.1 – Please clarify the design requirements. Is the design limited to the pre-engineered structure (by manufacturer), or are we to re-design the foundation/slab also?
b. Please clarify where material staging/laydown and temporary construction facilities can be located.
c. Is the drawing indicating an FES at each end of the 18” RCP?
d. Please provide a dimension to indicate the extent of fence removal (to be reinstalled).
e. It appears that the same designation is being used for EJ and CJ on the plan. For the intended use and building dimensions, it would be expected that no EJs would be required. Please clarify the requirement.
f. Typical Control Joint – Note indicates to “cut alternate wires at sawcut.” We do not see any practical way to accomplish this. The sawcut (1/5 SLAB DEPTH) will not cut the wire at 1/3 depth. Typically, the wire will be continuous at control joints. Please clarify the requirement.
g. Is the exposed structure to be painted or only factory primer?
h. Please clarify the required downspout locations.
Refer to Spec Section 13122, Meatal Building Systems, Part 1, Paragraph 1.02 Submittals for requirements.
b. Coordinate with CMB.
c. Correct. A flared end section is required at both ends of RCP.
d. A total of 60LF (30LF each side) was allocated for fence removal and reinstallation. It up to the contractor if they would like to remove less as they will then have tighter working conditions adjacent to the proposed building.
e. Provide Expansion Joints at the column center lines as noted.
f. Alternate wires can be cut prior to pouring the slab.
g. Refer to Sheet 7 (A‐3), Exterior Colors ‐ factory‐primed ('red iron') surfaces of Primary Columns and
Frames are to be finish painted to match exterior metal panel.
h. Provide downspouts at each side wall column line – A-1 thru 6 and D-1 thru 6.
