6.5.5 A stator winding heater shall be installed in both ends of each motor. The heaters shall be ribbon-type, 150 watt, 120 VAC, and shall be properly installed and secured on each end of the stator windings. Heater leads shall have 600 volt minimum insulation and shall be routed and extended through the motor's terminal box with the motor leads.
6.6 Final Tests. Upon completion of all rebuilding activities, and at appropriate times during final assembly, the following tests shall be performed in accordance with standard NEMA MG-1 (Part 12), IEEE 112-1984, and EASA procedures. Test data shall be carefully and accurately recorded for submittal to the Contracting Officer. Completed motors shall not be shipped until the Contracting Officer approves the test data. Test results that do not fall within acceptable values, or range of values, as specified herein and in NEMA, IEEE , or EASA guidelines, shall indicate improper or deficient rebuild techniques. In such instances, the Government representative shall decide if additional testing, retesting, or repair work is required to remedy the deficiency. Any additional work shall be accomplished by the Contractor, or their approved subcontractor, at no additional cost to the Government.
6.6.1 End Thrust and End Play. All rotor components shall be positioned on the shaft to eliminate end thrust against either bearing. Total end play in sleeve bearing apparatus shall be approximately 1/16 inch per inch of diameter of shaft journal. Rotor shall be balanced per paragraph 11.4.6, above.
6.6.2 Vibration Test and Spectrum Analysis (0-300 Hz) of the completed motor shall be accomplished in accordance with NEMA MG-1-12.07 to verify proper shaft balance and bearing performance. Maximum shop-measured "no-load" amplitude shall not exceed 0.0025 inches (peak-to-peak) in any direction relative to the horizontal shaft axis. Test results shall be presented as plots of peak-to-peak amplitude vs. frequency (0-300 Hz), for each test position.
6.6.3 Electrical Tests. The following electrical tests shall be performed, in accordance with applicable NEMA, IEEE, and EASA procedures, to verify the condition of the new windings and motor performance characteristics. All tests shall be witnessed by a representative of the Contracting Officer unless waived in writing.
6.6.3.1 DC High-Potential Test. When tested in accordance with NEMA MG-1-12.04, measured leakage current to ground of each winding shall not exceed 10 milliamperes.
6.6.3.2 Insulation Resistance Test. Megger test values for stator and rotor windings shall be recorded, using test voltage of 500 VDC. Test values shall not be less than 2 Megohms.
6.6.3.3 Polarization Index. A polarization index test shall be conducted by applying a test voltage of 2,500 VDC to each winding and recording the resistance to ground at every 15 second interval for a total of 10 minutes or until resistance readings reach infinity, whichever occurs first. The data shall be presented as a curve of resistance vs. time. Polarization Index (i.e., ratio of 10 minute reading over 1 minute reading) shall not be less than 2.0.
6.6.3.4 Surge Comparison Test. All windings shall be subjected to a surge comparison test to verify absence of fabrication and installation defects or damage. Test results shall be documented and shall demonstrate that the windings are essentially identical within their respective structure and are free from defects.
6.6.3.5 Stator Iron Loop Test. The stator iron loop test shall be performed twice during the rebuild process.
First test shall be after removal of old stator windings and complete cleaning of the stator core and frame, and shall document location and extent of any "hot-spots" where lamination repairs must be made. Second test shall be after all lamination repairs are completed, prior to installation of new windings, and shall verify absence of "hot-spots" as defined by the IEEE test procedure.
6.6.3.6 Load Test. A dynamometer load test shall be performed on the completed rebuilt motor in accordance with IEEE Standard 112. The rotor windings shall be shorted for the test, and the motor brought up to full speed at 460 volts before beginning the test. The following minimum parameters shall be recorded for test points at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, and 125% of rated motor load (nominal): motor line current; speed;
output torque foot-pounds; and output horsepower (see IEEE Std. 112-1984). Also, for each motor tested, the motor line current corresponding to 1,000 foot-pounds of output torque shall be recorded. This value of motor line current will be the maximum current allowed by the LCC controller. Test data shall be presented both in tabular form and in standard performance curves format.
