Sault Ste Marie Wheelsman Exhibit Questions and Answers July 16, 2015
Q1. What is the date for completion of the project?
A1. In the Scope of Work (SOW) in the "Schedule" section it states all work shall be completed within 120 days. Disregard the 20 Aug delivery date in the solicitation. That date isn't firm. It should have been changed along with the extension. It will be replaced with a more realistic deadline upon award. Please let us know a reasonable time for delivery and completion when you submit your proposal.
Q2. The exhibit is specified as needing to meet ADA standards; however the platform is not deep enough to accommodate a wheelchair. Are the dimensions going to change to make that accommodation?
A2. Wheelchair users will use the exhibit from the floor, the wheel and other items were planned to be positioned to be accessible from the floor. It should be fine with reach ranges specified in the ADA.
Q3. Will there be a stipend available to compensate for pre-contract design hours (sketches) and materials samples?
A3. There will be no stipend for upfront costs. These costs can be included in your bid.
Q4. There are two or three “bases” referenced in the RFP. Which base would you like a sample of- Base for the entire display, Chadburn base, or the Binnacle base?
A4. Mainly we are interested in the platform flooring material and the material that would be used for the wheel pedestal. The Binnacle and chadburn bases will depend on if an antique, reproduction or new construction is used and the narrative should be able to adequately describe it if it is brass, steel, hardwood, etc. If some other sort of material is proposed, a sample would be helpful.
Q5. What are the building limitations for bringing in the platform and various pieces for the exhibit? Can you can provide door heights and widths?
A5. (Photo attached) When the double doors are opened they create an opening approximately 6 feet wide and 7 feet high. The floor is carpeted with no steps inside the exhibit area, the exhibit will be installed near the north doors.
Q6. Is there a loading dock?
A6. No loading dock.
