About this file

This document contains questions and answers regarding Solicitation Number W911QY-24-R-FLOR for access flooring and understructure. The solicitation requires access flooring to be installed around two AMTI force plates measuring 24x24 inches each. The access flooring finish is requested to closely match the finish of the force plates but not be non-skid, and samples may be requested for review. Plywood infill is not required between understructure plates as the access flooring will extend to the edge of the pits. The understructure must not block electrical conduit passages. AMTI can be contacted regarding the sealant used on their force plates to aid in selecting a similar finish.

Questions and Answers in Response to Combined Synopsis/Solicitation W911QY-24-R-FLOR S2PRINT Access Flooring and Understructure

Question 1:

Details E6/A538 and F6/A538 refer to ‘plywood infill between plates and pit.” This scope of work is not listed in the ‘Purchase Description - Access Flooring & Understructure’ document provided in the RFP. Is this scope of work being handled by the US Army? If so, please advise. If not, and the US Army wishes for this to be included in the RFP response, please provide material specifications, construction, and attachment details.

Answer 1:

Plywood infill pertains to IF the AMTI force plates were to go to the edge of the pit, that 6" was to allow for wiring.

Since access flooring is required around the force plates, that 6" is not needed and the access flooring can go up to the surrounding edge of the pit. The understructure of the access flooring (basically a pillar) can't block the electrical conduit pass on specs.

Question 2:

Dwg A538 calls out Detail B4/A536 in two (2) locations, but Dwg A536 was not included in the RFP. Please provide this detail for review.

Answer 2:

Please see Drawing A536 (attached separately to solicitation); it looks like it concerns the cables/electrical conduit for the force plates. Access flooring understructure would need to not block that area. There is not a copy of ARIEMs Treadmill pit area, just the overground force plates.

Question 3:

The ‘Purchase Description - Access Flooring & Understructure’ document notes that the floor ‘panel surface look and texture should be close to that of cement/concrete/force platform finish (AMTI for reference) and must be approved by SC and ARIEM subject matter experts (SME) … not non-skid, but not smooth.’. With that, is there a desired coefficient of friction value? If not, how does SC/ARIEM intend to review the proposed finish?

Answer 3:

There is no coefficient of friction value. We would like to see some samples, if at all possible. If they would like to reach out to AMTI and see what coating they use, and find something similar that is acceptable. Color does not have to be exact match to either force plates or concrete.

Question 4:

Dwg A538 notes force plates FP-1 and FP-2. These scale out to be 24” x 24”. Is that correct? Can you provide the AMTI model numbers for both force plates, for reference purposes?

Answer 4:

Force plates are HPS 464508-2K they are 464 x 508 x 82.5 mm with 2k lb capacity. We understand that the surrounding access flooring tiles will very likely not match the sizes of the force plates.

Question 5:

With the finish on the floor panels looking to closely match the finish on the AMTI force plates, could AMTI provide either a small sample of their force plate finish or the paint formula they use to finish coat their plates? Just looking to bts understand what is needed for the finish on the Tate floor panels.

Answer 5:

Recommendation from the program office is to reach out to AMTI and inquire about what seal is used.
