Statement of FLIR Camera Requirements
1. Background:
The Ouellette Thermal Test Facility is in need of a Infrared Camera to be used in the ASTM-F1930 test. The ability to “see through” the flames during testing and to be able to measure the temperature during the test will allow us to better ascertain problem areas in the existing and future uniforms used by our soldier. This will allow us to improve the systems and afford increased protection to the warfighter.
2. Requirements: The vendor shall deliver a FLIR Camera capable of measuring and calibrated to temperatures up to +1500 degrees C. The system shall be equal to or better than FLIR SC6701 with Indium Antimonide (InSb) detector and FLIR Researcher IR Max software package. The system shall be equipped with a filter that will allow visibility through the flames to observe the article being tested.
a. General Requirements: We require a complete IR high temp camera system capable of measuring, storing and analyzing the acquired data obtained during test utilizing propane torches such as are used in the ASTM F1930 standard. Two lenses, 13 mm and 50 mm are needed to fully utilize the equipment with the various testing systems in the Thermal Test Facility. Analysis software, data acquisition and system control are to be consolidated on a PC which will act as a system data recorder. Formal instruction is required.
b. Specific Requirements: The system shall:
a. Use the spectrum between 3.0 to 5.0 micron
b. Include a 50 mm lens specific to the 3.0 to 5.0 micron band
c. Include a 13 mm lens specific to the 3.0 to 5.0 micron band
d. Be calibrated to extended temperatures of -20 degrees to +1500 degrees C
e. Have means to insert filters
f. Have narrow band “flame filter” 3.825 to 3.975 micron band to allow vision through flames
g. Be calibrated to extended temperatures of -20 degrees to +1500 degree C with the narrow band filter
h. Analysis software equal to or better than FLIR Researcher IR Max software package
i. Contain analysis software on compatible portable data recorder
j. Provide formal training either onsite or at factory authorized training facility.
