The following items are applicable to this modification:
AMENDMENT NOTES
1. The purpose of this amendment is to Answer Vendor Questions.
Question 1: Statement Of Work (SOW) Section 3.1. General Requirements - calls for precision hydrodynamic bearing for wheel spindle. Can we instead use super precision angular contact ball spindle bearings? Our manufacturer GER has substantial experience of using both types of wheel spindle bearings. Disadvantages of the hydrodynamic bearings comparing to super precision angular contact ball spindle bearings are: increased temperature in the bearing; a significant wear reducing the life of the bearing, and the worse runout accuracy.
Answer: 1. The Statement of Work requests hydrodynamic bearings.
Question 2: Section 3.1.11 g – requires solid 3-D graphics and 2-D graphics display, operator switchable.
Thisstandard lathe software is included in the GER grinders. Can we in addition to that include an extra software with grinding cycles with the 2- D graphic display?
Answer: 2. The Statement of Work requests as a minimum solid 3-D graphics and 2-D graphics display, operator switchable.
Question 3: Section 3.1.11 k - requires among other Ports (1) RS232C Port. Can we have an adaptor USB to RS232C port with the same functionality? The reason is that the RS232C Port is almost obsolete and hard to find in the market.
Answer: 3. As stated in the SOW an RS232C Port is preferred. The USB adapter will be evaluated.
Question 4: Section 4.3. Performance Test refers to ASME B5.57-Methods for Performance Evaluation of CNC Lathes and Turning Centers. Can we suggest instead of ASME B5.57 use for Performance TestDIN8630 norm which is issued for grinding machines with tighter tolerances than required for lathes?
Answer: 4. The Statement of Work requires ASME B5.57 as a minimum. The equipment provider can perform further test that they feel is required.
Question 5: Section 5.1. Delivery - calls for completion within (300) calendar days after award of the contract. We kindly ask to permit (360) calendar days if the awarded by September 30, 2011 or (390) days otherwise.
Answer: 5. The Statement of Work requires delivery and installation within 300 calendar days.
Question 6: See Section 3.1.3 Table - Please confirm the desired minimum swing over the table and maximum grinding diameter. With a minimum swing over the table of 16.5 inches as requested in this section, the max grinding diameter must be less than this dimension on any OD grinding machine. Maximum grinding diameter would have to be less than the swing over the table (Less than 16.5” from the SOW).
Answer 6. Confirm requirement for max. grinding diameter. The Statement of work will be revised to reflect a maximum grinding diameter of 15.75 inches.
Question 7: During the site visit the area for the machine was roughly defined as 23 feet by 11 feet. Is it acceptable for the overall machine table length to extend outside of each end of that area by as much as 2 feet?
Answer: 7. The Statement of Work paragraph 3.1.2 Travel defines the minimum Z-axis travel requirement of 92.50 inches. The proposed floor space available is approximately 23 feet for this axis. The proposed extended travel will be evaluated.
Question 8: What is the thickness of the floor in the area in which the machine will be installed?
Answer: 8. The minimum concrete thickness is specified as 6 inches thick based on original foundation drawings.
Question 9: Facing the machine installation site from the aisle there was an uneven area in the floor to the left/front side of the installation site. This could interfere with the installation and levelling of the machine. Will ANAD grind or repair this before machine arrival
Answer: 9. No. The contractor will provide the information as required in paragraph 5.3 Installation for evaluation.
Question 10: The drawing in Amendment 1 is it required to have a foundation installed with these dimensions?
Answer: 10. No. The proposed dimensions are approximate only to show the proposed area for the equipment.
Question 11: How thick is the existing foundation in building 129 and is it a continuous slab?
Answer: 11. The minimum concrete thickness is specified as 6 inches thick based on original foundation drawings. The building has been in service for a long time and there have been many different types of equipment installed in this area for this reason it is not believed that this area would have a continuous slab.
Question 12: Are there any underground utilities in the foundation area? If know, that will save the expense of a floor X-Ray.
Answer: 12. There is a possibility that utilities exist in this area. Further research will be accomplished to confirm.
Question 13: Are steel coolant tanks and oil return tanks permitted below grade level in an open pit?
Answer: 13. No.
Question 14: Will you permit an exemption for weldments in place of Cast iron
Answer: 14. No.
Question 15: Can our bid have liner rails in place of V-Flat?
Answer: 15. No.
Question 16: Can a Canadian Small Business bid for this procurement with knowledge if awarded, the award goes to Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) and to the awardee for execution?
Answer: 16. Yes.
2. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
