Replace Rooftop Fans Building 89010
1. Having reviewed the verbiage in the notes and fan schedule, is the following determination accurate:
The Fan Mark that lists new are to be replaced, and the Fan Mark that lists existing are to receive the general maintenance? Please confirm the accuracy of this:
Reference Sheet M-101A, M-101B, M-101C, M-101D, M-101E, M-101F, M-102A, M-102B, M- 102C, M-102D, M-102E and M-102F; NOTE: 2 states, During the removal and replacement of existing fans that are to receive new motorized back-draft dampers, the contractor shall perform a general maintenance to each fan, to include new belts, grease, bearings and oil motors.
Reference Sheet M-601, Fan Schedule identifies FAN MARK: NEW and EXISTING.
Answer: Yes/confirmed
2. Not having access to the roof during the Site Visit, nor having any current data to provide the curb size as informed by the DPW Project Manager during the Site Visit held on 14AUG18. It states "It will be the contractors responsibility to verify all fan curb sizes after contract award". This brings the assumption that a roofer would be required as well in this particular scope of work. Which in turn poses the next question, of How will this impact the current warranty of the roof if new curbs need to be cut? In the fan schedule, the existing fan models are listed as N/A, will a modification to the contract be issued should the fans in the schedule not match the existing curbs?
Reference Sheet M-601, Fan Schedule identifies FAN MARK: NEW and EXISTING.Note: It will be the contractors responsibility to verify all fan curb sizes after contract award.
Answer: FAN MARK: NEW – this is an existing fan that is to be replaced with a NEW fan. FAN MARK EXISTING: - this is an existing fan that is NOT being replaced. No curbs are to be added. The Contractor shall use the existing curb for both the EXISTING & NEW fans. No roofer needed.
3. Are the walls in the restrooms fire rated?
Answer: NO.
4. The plans call for new fans. Please confirm there is an existing fan in place for all new fans called out.
Answer: YES.
5. There are no electrical drawings included, but the plans have several electrical requirements including new breakers in the electrical panel.
(Sheet M 101.A general note 4).
Answer: The electrical data is located within the mechanical drawings. Sheet M-101A has the location of the existing panels shown (RM 323)
6. Sheet M101.F calls out Exhaust Fan 6-9. I cannot locate a Fan 6-9 on the drawings. Should this be 6-8, and if not, please identify location/sheet for Exhaust Fan 6-9.
Answer: Location, north-east corner of Bay 6 in the VENDING area.
7. Sheet M102A calls out exhaust fan 1-6, schedule only goes to 1-5.
Answer: DELETE ALL WORK TO EXHAUST FAN 1-6 IN ROOM 202. THIS ROOM HAS HAD A
NEW MINI-SPLIT COOLING UNIT INSTALLED.
8. Sheet M 102 E calls out exhaust fan 5-8, this is not on the plan schedule
Answer: Toilet fan equivalent to EF1-1
9. Will new conduit, duct work, etc. that may be install, and that will be exposed, be required to be painted?
Answer: No painting of conduit required.
10. Is there fire alarm tied into any of the exhaust fans for this project?
Answer: YES, the fire alarm is connected to the exhaust fans
11. Who is responsible for moving the warehouse racks, furniture, etc. that will be required to access some of the exhaust fans, electrical, etc.?
Answer: Contractor will need to coordinate with the building occupants through the COR and have all material removed from the racks that need to be moved, and it will be the Contractors responsibility to remove and replace the racks as the Contractor deems necessary in order to complete the required construction.
12. Can the government provide existing roof curb sizes for exhaust fans?
Answer: No.
13. Will the sheetrock areas that the new transfer grills will be installed be required to be painted, caulked?
Answer: If the Contractor replaces any sheetrock with new sheetrock, then yes it will be taped floated and painted to match existing. All wall penetrations shall be sealed.
14. Can the government confirm that the only sheetrock to be removed will be for the size of transfer grills to be installed?
Answer: Yes that is all that is required if the contractor is capable of installing the grille without using the sheetrock to support the grille. Refer to the detail M-501 which shows a lay-in application which will need to be reinforced/supported in some manner so that the weight of the grille is not being supported by the sheetrock.
15. Will any cutting into CMU or other existing exterior siding be required for this project?
Answer: None Required.
