Minimum Essential Characteristics Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS) for Automated Analysis of C-13 in Breath CO2
The spectrometer must meet the following requirements:
Physical Table top. Footprint not to exceed 1.4 x 0.8 m including auto-sampler and USARIEM supplied computer.
Automation The device should be made specifically for breath samples from human subjects. It will be using 12ml vials and an automated XYZ auto-sampler loaded in racks with a total load capability of 240 vials.
Performance Specifications 0.01% Precision for 13C in a wide range of CO2 concentrations from low density (less or equal to 0.3%) to high (up to 10%). Easy monitoring by user of critical operating parameters such as valve positions and spectrometer vacuum values.
Self-calibration User-programmable automated calibration using internal reference gas for frequent tests of performance, drifts and linearity.
Software Stand-alone software for control, data collection and data processing. Creation and storage of analysis protocols.
Maintenance On-site installation and initial calibration by seller. Instrument/software must integrate with USARIEM supplied, Army Gold Master imaged PC. Availability of on-site service contracts. Automated spectrometer stand-by mode when not in use.
