About this file

This market survey questionnaire from the Department of the Army seeks information from industry regarding capabilities for enhancing existing robotic systems. Respondents are asked to provide details on their experience with interoperability profiles, robotic control units, and software for unmanned ground systems. They are also asked to describe proposed approaches for conducting technical feasibility studies and payload integration onto specific robotic platforms without requiring government provision of technical data or robotic assets. Respondents must provide estimated costs and timeframes for proposed work including physical, electrical, and software updates to the systems. The document requests responses by email to the specified contracting officer by the stated deadline.

Question 1): Is the Government looking for information regarding available payloads and our expertise in integrating our own product offerings to platforms like MTRS-II and CRS-H, or is the Government looking for vendors to provide long term support to perform system updates of OEM-supplied base platforms, or both?

Response: We are looking for information regarding your expertise in integrating your own product offerings to platforms like MTRS-II and CRS-H, and we are looking for vendors to provide long term support to perform system updates of OEM-supplied base platforms. These system updates could include, but are not limited to additional currently unknown payloads, performance improvements, and product improvements. These additional payloads may include products that your company produces, procures, or are provided by the Government.

Question 2) What capabilities is the Government really looking for?

Response: The ability to add capability enhancements and future requirements to the MTRS Inc II and CRS-H systems, with limited information about the robotic system.

Question 3) How would the Government want to roll out the product improvement program?

Response: The Government is looking for the ability to write cost- plus fixed -fee work directives to allow for changes to the MTRS Inc. II and CRS-H platforms that extend their current capabilities. These work directives might be for a certain percentage of each fleet of robots or for the entire fleet of robots. It will depend on what capability has been requested, and what entity is funding said capability. The products of the work directives would then be added into the platforms as required/necessary.

Question 4) What is the amount of time the Government is willing to allow for any integration effort?

Response: This will depend on the capability that the platform will require. Ideally, we have time in the schedule to allow for research on the existing technologies that meet or almost meet this capability, integration time, internal to the STS contractor time, government testing, ECP writing and incorporation, logistics updates. All of these efforts will be funded by each work directive.
