Confirm that all work noted in red on design drawing X-01 will be done by others.
Yes. All demo and renovations on X-01 in red are Fort Campbell DPW contractor work.
Who is General Contractor working on space modifications shown on X-01.
This information is not known. Fort Campbell DPW has contracted this out.
What is largest size opening into main exhibit area. (egress route) 10’ x 10’
Description Specifications Schedules page 4 includes a note under dioramas describing a illuminated domed ceiling above the plane. Does this illuminated domed ceiling exist, and if not where are details on design drawings.
The ceiling dome has been deleted from the scope of the project – only the circular lights and rigging (to be provided by Fort Campbell DPW – positioning of lighting to be done by awarded exhibit fabrication contractor) remains to light the glider area. The DPW at Pratt raised concerns with building structural integrity with adding it.
Confirm if exhibit fabricator is responsible for getting the macro items in exhibit space, and if so, where are the items presently located in relationship to the Museum.
The macros will be disassembled by Soldier specialists and stored off site near the museum location. These items will be moved and placed by Soldier specialists with the exception of the helicopter. This item will be retrieved by the Soldier specialists, but suspended by the awarded fabrication contractor.
If exhibit fabricator is responsible for getting macro items in Museum space will the glider come apart and will fabricator be responsible for dis-assembly and re-assembly inside Museum space.
The macros will be disassembled by Soldier specialists and stored off site near the museum location. These items will be moved and placed by Soldier specialists with the exception of the helicopter. This item will be retrieved by the Soldier specialists, but suspended by the awarded fabrication contractor.
Confirm if exhibit fabricator is responsible for hanging the glider and helicopter.
As noted in the altered drawings, there was a change and the display of the glider. It is now on floor supports with stairs and railings for visitors (provided by the awarded exhibits contractor) to provide necessary exhibit space underneath for artifacts. The DPW again raised concerns with the weight of the glider and visitors going through the glider. See pages x-15 and x-27 of the Pratt design drawings file provided to contracting. The helicopter to be hung at the rotor by the awarded exhibit fabrication contractor on a support beam provided by the awarded exhibit fabrication contractor.

Is there a drwg X-13?
Yes – it is an attachment to the solicitation.
Please explain the difference between Blumcraft cases and Click cases Brand names – specifications are available in Specifications file and on their websites.
Glass is called out as non glare Starfire. Is this also tempered laminated glass?
Yes.
Do you know of any rigging companies in the area or have been in the facility before?
No. Information is not available
We cannot locate a lighting schedule for the display cases, please let us know where this is located in documentation or please supply.
Case lighting included in drawings X-17 through X-19 of the Pratt design drawings file. Specifications are on page 19 of of the Pratt specification file. Pages x-21-24 specifies Luxam fiber Micro series or equivalent for the fiber optic lighting.
Does the CDRL form to be included in the RFP submittal?
The CDRL form does not need to be included in the RFP submittal. They are there to reference as deliverables.
Note: Please include costs associated with Contractor Manpower Reporting in your Proposal.
Can you clarify this please?
Please build this cost into your proposal. Contractor Manpower Reporting will be a Not Separately Priced Line Item on the Contract.
Some of the Answers reference an A-104 drawing (to view lighting scope provided by client). If possible, can we have access to this Architectural set of drawings?
That drawing was DPW drawing reference. Please use x-29 of Pratt Design drawings (lighting plan). This is in reference to what lights the exhibit fabrication contractor is responsible for. X-29 lighting is Fort Campbell DPW responsibility. Lighting inside the cases and wall lighting over artwork in the ready room are exhibit fabrication contractor responsibility.
We also seem to be missing a light specification for the cases themselves. I'm wondering if that light spec is included in the Architectural drawings. Please advise.
Case light specifications found on page 19 of Pratt specifications file, and x-7 through x-19 of Pratt Design drawings file.
Does the project have a start date? Start date is determined by the award date of contract.
Follow up: Has the contract Award date been established? There is not an established award date but the contract start date will be the following Monday after award
Is the lighted ceiling dome above the glider the responsibility of the exhibit fabricator or the GC.
The ceiling dome has been deleted from the scope of the project – only the circular lights and rigging (to be provided by Fort Campbell DPW – positioning of lighting to be done by awarded exhibit fabrication contractor) remains to light the glider area. The DPW at Pratt raised concerns with structural integrity with adding it.
Follow Up: Please clarify “positioning of lighting”. Is the Exhibit Fabrication Contract responsible for actually hanging the lights or only focusing (aiming) them at the glider?
All lights in the gallery exterior of the internal case lights (lights actual in the cases) will be installed by Fort Campbell DPW. Awarded exhibit fabrication contractor tor will physical ally aim all lights onto objects and Graphic boards.
Will the GC be responsible for providing handing points for the glider from the facility ceiling through the new domed ceiling between the glider and the and the facility ceiling?
As noted in the altered drawings, there was a change and the display of the glider. It is now on floor supports (provided by the awarded exhibits contractor) to provide necessary exhibit space underneath for artifacts. The DPW again raised concerns with the weight of the glider and visitors going through the glider. See pages x-15 and x-27 of the Pratt design drawings file provided to contracting.
Follow Up: Is it correct to assume that the glider floor supports pass through the diorama platform and attach directly to the facility floor?
Yes. For structural stability, the glider mount should pass through platform below to the floor.
Do the glider and helicopter have existing hanging points?
Glider is not hung – see above. The helicopter to be hung at the rotor by the awarded exhibit fabrication contractor on a support beam provided by the awarded exhibit fabrication contractor.
Follow Up: Please clarify what is meant by “support beam”. How is it intended to attach to the facility ceiling? How is it intended to attach to the helicopter rotor?
How it attaches to the ceiling and the helicopter is for the awarded exhibit fabrication contractor to establish.
The question refers the Case Detail - Blumcraft drawings X-17, 18 & 19. The drawings do not indicate the total number of fixture in each case. For example, drawing 1-SECTION Case Geometry EA1:C01 on page X-17 shows four fixtures. I believe that case will require more than four fixtures to be adequately lit. Can you provide the total number of fixtures per case?
Number of lights are as indicated on drawings. The acrylic top is to disburse the light with the LED strip lighting providing supplemental light.
Follow Up: After careful examination of the drawings I can find on indication as to the number of track heads in the case layouts. Where is this information to be found? Also please note that the lights inside the cases are specified as Luxam Micro FIBER-OPTIC, not LEDs. Can LEDs be substituted for the Fiberoptics Number of lights are indicated pictorially on pages x-17 through x-19 of the Pratt Design drawings file.
Fiber optics may be substituted with LED lights in the cases.
Also the drawings indicate Luxam Micro LEDs (should have read Fiber-optics) to be included in the Blumcraft cases and the Wall cases However there is no specification in the Descriptions, Specifications & Schedules package as to the specific type of LED or illuminator to be used. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.
Pages 18 & 23 of the Pratt specification sheet state specifics on LED lights. Drawings indicate "or equivalent". The specification sheet pages have substitute products.
Follow Up: Please note, the lights shown on pages 18 & 23 are for the domed ceiling and the glider stair treads respectively. Are either of these intended to be substituted for the Luxam Fiber-optic case lights?
Page 19 of the Pratt specification sheet is the information for the positionable lights in the cases. Page x-24 of the Pratt Design drawings specifies the fiber optic lights as Luxam fiber Micro series optic lighting.
Views 19 & 20 in the Exhibit Renderings document show what appears to be stacked wooden crates forming the Firebase. Is that correct? Please provide additional information as to the nature of the Firebase.
Full rendering is on page 21 of the Exhibit Renderings.pdf file. Crates to be new construction to resemble Vietnam period shipping crates.
Follow Up: Will additional reference material be provided (photographic or otherwise) as to the nature of the shipping crates?
Yes. Period photos will be provided.
Is the exhibit fabricator responsible for the new millwork in the Ready Room? If so, what species of wood is to be used?
Yes. Meranti Luan may be used (all pieces with uniform grain to simulate mahogany) stained to specifications (mahogany) stated in the finish schedule chart on page X-00 of Pratt Design Drawing file.
Follow Up: Meranti Laun is no longer readily available in the region. Is Red Grandis an acceptable substitute?
Yes. Red grandis may be used for the millwork in the ready room.
Please provide specifications for the projector and large format projection screen that are located above
EA 11 & 12
Specifications on pages 15 & 16 in Pratt Specifications.pdf Follow Up: Please note, the projector and screen shown on pages 15 and 16 in the Specifications pdf are listed as being used in the Ready Room. Are the intended to be used in the main gallery at EA11 & 12 as well?
Yes. Projector images will be shown on the wall above artifacts and not on a screen. The screen is used in the ready room only.
Do you know how much of the existing sections in the museum will be removed prior or how much of the old exhibits we are expected to remove and replace? I have not found this anywhere in the documents we have.
The space will be emptied of existing exhibits by the Government prior to the start date. All exhibits are new construction to be provided by the awarded exhibit fabrication contractor with the exception of the bunkhouse which is the only existing exhibit to be used in the new design which gets touch up treatment and reader rail to be provided by awarded exhibit fabrication contractor.
Follow Up: Drawing X-16 shows the Tent Display as “existing”. Please verify that this is the case.
Yes. The bunkhouse diorama is existing. Awarded fabrication contractor is responsible for repainting and other specified changes to existing piece.
Case Lighting – Is information available as to how many tracks heads / light fixtures are required in the cases?
Each case drawing has them drawn for each case on pages x-17 through x-19 of the Pratt design drawings.pdf file. There isn’t a matrix for lighting. Type of lighting is in the specifications.pdf.
Follow Up: The section for EA1:C-01 shows only 2 track heads per side. Similarly, section for case EA1:C- 02 shows only 1. Do the section drawings reflect the actual number of heads per case or is there additional information listing the total number of heads per case?
Drawings reflect the number of heads per case.
Finish Schedule – HPL-1 – Calls for Chemetal 326 Graphite, it appears that the number for Graphite is 426, please confirm. Note: This laminate is only available in 4x8 sheets, with the height of the cases at 10’, some seams will be necessary.
It is 426 graphite. Seaming of the laminate is not preferred. This product may be substituted with a product of equal quality and color that is available in 10’ lengths.
Follow Up: Will Formica brand DecoMetal 2032 be an acceptable substitute?
Yes. Formic deco metal 2032 may be substituted for C he metal 326 graphite providing it is available in 10' sheets.
Are the printed graphics to be laminated, and if so, is a specific laminate material desired (Matte Photo over laminate or FloorGuard for example)? We recommend that all printed graphics including wall mural graphics be laminated as it adds durability and that lamination be part of the graphic specifications.
Yes, images should be laminated. Lamination brand not specific, but must be matte (non-glossy).
Does the fiber optic lighting extend all the way to the bottom of the cases, or only halfway down?
Only the portion of the cases as shown in the drawing -it is not the total length.
Regarding EA5-D03 on sheet X-15: have the support beams and plates for the glider been omitted? If not, please explain.
No they have not been omitted - the floor support beams and plates for the glider are in place of suspending the glider from the ceiling which was not possible be a use of structural support of the building. The glider will be supported by beams from the floor to hold the weight of the glider and visitors that will tour through the glider. The support structure of the glider will pass through any platform that will hold the artifacts below and be tall enough to provide exhibit spa E for the artifacts below.
Please specify the material for the wall mural panels. There is a great variance in durability and cost.
Korographics Abaco Beach paper, or equal, with a smooth non-glossy finish.
