Battery Powered Motorized Traversing Unit (BPMTU) Question and Answer Log

Q1) There are several part numbers in Table 1 which do not have a complete list of approved vendors. They are:

Joystick Assembly NSN 1290-01-552-4497 PN 12512497. The joystick is also supplied by Applied Resources Corp in Wharton, NJ Cage code 55987. Attached is their approval letter and an order where they are supplying them to the ARMY. The contact at TACOM is listed in the solicitation.

Controller Assembly 643724-01M1. The two companies listed in fedlog is BAE 6W728 and Control Solutions 4B8D1. However, in Table 1 it only lists BAE and not Control Solutions.

Cable Assembly #3 Controller to Joystick. 6432535-01M1 NSN 6150-01-560-0238. There are 5 companies listed in fedlog including BAE 6W728 and Control Solutions 4B8D1. However in Table 1 it only lists BAE and not Control Solutions or the other companies.

ANSWER: The list of approved sources can change over time. When TACOM originally put the Table 1 list together, if there was a TACOM drawing (as in the Joystick), we focused on those suggested/approved sources listed on the drawing. If and when other companies submit the appropriate documentation and testing documentation the suggested/approval sources will also change. As for Applied Resources Corporation, we see where the company was approved to proceed based on their FAT "Plan", but we don't see whether or not they passed their FAT.

For items that we did not have TACOM drawings, we focused on the prime vendor/supplier; which has a Reference Number Category Code (RNCC) and Reference Number Variation Code (RNVC) of 3/2. However, an RNCC and RNVC of 5/2 would also work.

Bottom line, the suggested/approved sources can be pulled from the drawings or prime vendor/supplier in FedLog using RNCC and RNVC of 3/2 or 5/2.

Q2) It’s not clear how we are to include shipping charges. Do we include the cost in the base cost? As a separate line item?

ANSWER: This contract is utilizing FOB Destination, there are no separate line items for any actions that utilize Destination as the method of shipping. Shipping charges should be included in the costs for the Production Quantities.
