Qualifying Statement for BC4-25 M Grit Blaster

Name: Grit Blaster Model Number: BC4-25 M Bomb Cleaning Blast Machine-modular Manufacturer: Techniblast-Goff, Inc.

Date: 7 February 2019

Scope:

This qualifying statement covers the specifications and design requirement for the BC4-25 M Grit Blaster.

System Features:

Grit Blaster:

Blast Cabinet:

· Pass-through design blast machine to accept MCAAP’s existing monorail

· 3/8” thick manganese steel blast chamber

· (4) 25 HP direct drive blast wheels with curved blade design

· (1) 100 HP VFD variable speed controller power-flex to control blast wheel RPM of all (4) four blast wheels.

· Control panel air conditioner provided with VFD

· ½” Premium chrome replaceable cast liners in line with the blast streams on the wall opposite blast wheels.

· Blast chamber is fully cast lined with premium chrome cast liners

· Liners are designed to line up with the edge of the blast wheel housing to help protect blast wheel housing edges

· Four (4) split pneumatically powered doors located at end of both vestibules and also between blow-off and blast chamber.

· PLC controller to be located on the operator panel positioned at the grit blaster entrance

· Manufacturer must supply any bracing required to keep the two blast cabinet halves at a set distance. This bracing will be required to clear the monorail and not block any equipment from maintenance or normal operation

Spinning Mechanism:

· Two (2) powered work spinner drives rotate bombs and maintain position while in the blast zone and blow-off areas

· Drives to be equipped with a VFD for rotating speed adjustment

· A pneumatic idler adjustment arm for tension on the rotating belt.

Dual Bucket Elevator System:

· Vertically conveys the abrasive and contaminants received from the blast cabinet screw conveyor. The bucket elevator deposits the abrasive into the rotary screen to remove large debris and contaminates into a waste container. The remaining abrasive passes through the rotary screen and enters the air wash separator for final cleansing and removal of fines and broken down abrasive material. Abrasive is then discharged into the abrasive storage hopper for reuse.

· 1/8" and 3/16” thick carbon steel construction.

· Rubber-lagged head pulleys with integral shaft.

· Heavy duty pillow block bearings

· Access doors for ease of access and maintenance.

· Heavy duty shaft and bearings with shaft-mounted direct drive hollow bore reducer

· Reinforced four-ply elevator belt

· Cast malleable iron elevator buckets.

Air Wash Separator:

· The air wash separator receives the used abrasive and fine contaminants passing from the rotary screen. In a cascade fashion of a full 50" wide curtain the air wash coupled with the vacuum from the dust collector removes dust, mill scale and small abrasive fines from the abrasive operating mix.

· Waste particles are separated from the dust-laden air and fed, via a fine refuse discharge hose, to a refuse container at floor level. Lighter contaminants and dust are pneumatically conveyed to the dust collector.

· The air wash separator is to be easily accessible from the service platform for easy periodic adjustment by operator or maintenance personnel.

· Single 50” air wash Lip Separator

Abrasive Storage Hopper:

· Stores and provides a sufficient and constant and consistent supply of abrasive to supply the blast wheels. The storage hopper is equipped with a level sensor to automatically detect when a low abrasive situation is present. The level sensor automatically actuates a valve in the abrasive adder hopper to meter new abrasive into the mix.

· 3/16” thick carbon steel plate construction

· Adjustable abrasive flow to blast wheels.

Abrasive Feed Pipes:

· To provide a steady supply of abrasive media to the abrasive feed gates.

· 3” inside diameter, reinforced pure gum rubber hose.

· All feed pipes are to be mounted on the flat bottom of the abrasive storage hopper to ensure adequate level of abrasive at the outlet

Blast Wheels:

· 15” blade diameter, 8 blades, curved, 3” wide snap-lock design, made from chrome alloy and heat-treated for hardness and long-life wear.

· (4) Four Total - (4) 25 HP motors mounted in a vertical line with no offset

· 3600 RPM

· C-faced direct drive

· Direct-mounted

· Wheel Housing: 1/4” thick manganese steel, fully internally lined with premium alloy cast top and end liners.

· Impeller: conical inlet type cast of premium alloy.

· Control cage: adjustable for angular-discharge control, cast of premium alloy.

· Blades: curved blade design cast of premium chrome alloy.

· Motor lifting eye to be placed in the vertical position in relation to the finished mounted orientation so the motor can be installed/uninstalled without rotating a suspended weight.

Blow-Off system:

· To pneumatically blow the dust, abrasive and scale off of the bombs.

· The blow-off will be timer controlled to operate automatically when a bomb is present.

· The system provided will include the: compressed air pump (HP- TBD) inlet filter silencer, High velocity air nozzles (Qty TBD) to blow-down the entire length of the bombs.

· Included in the system are all plumbing piping, fittings and couplings, hoses and connectors to affix the system within the blow-off vestibule.

· This is a stand-alone compressed air motor driven system that requires no external compressed air feed.

Monorail System:

· MCAAP will provide monorail system for grit blasting operations up to the entrance of grit blaster and starting again at the exit of the machine.

· Manufacturer to provide the complete drive system.

· The chain drive system will convey the track trolley within the blaster and accept bombs from the MCAAP’s incoming monorail system to automatically move bombs through the blast machine. Required length of the chain drive to be provided by the manufacturer

· The distance between the trolleys is determined by the distance of the dog legs on the chain drive conveying system. The distance is to be provided by the manufacturer at time of the contract award.

· The distance between the dog legs needs to set at an interval to correctly space the bombs to allow the opening and closing of the powered doors in the blasting chamber area and the vestibule and air blow off chamber.

· The bombs will need to advance automatically to the next position when the cycle timer expires. Proximity switches provided by the manufacturer will be used to stop bombs in appropriate blasting or blow-off area.

· The Bombs will be fixtured onto the conveyor to be idled, rotated and blast cleaned for the set amount of time while in the blast zone.

· The bombs will then proceed to the blow-off vestibule to be rotated to remove media and debris.

Ventilation:

Requirements:

· 6,500 CFM volume at 4,000 FPM velocity@ 19” W.C. Approximately 150 linear feet of ducting with numerous elbows. All ductwork and ventilation accessories will be provided by MCAAP with the manufacturer supplying the 3 PSI rated duct from the baghouse to the isolation valve. The manufacturer will supply a suggested duct layout with all the connection points on the machine.

Abrasive Shot Trap:

· Inline drop out hopper between blast cabinet and dust collector. Captures good abrasive that has been pulled out of blast cabinet by dust collector into ductwork and prevents good abrasive from collecting in ductwork or traveling to dust collector.

· Any variance in mounting design is up for discussion.

Abrasive Classifier:

· 30” abrasive classifier to screen steel grit

· Size abrasive within a certain range based on screen sizes to be determined

· Correctly sized abrasive to be fed back to the grit blaster machine and the broken down undersized abrasive to be discharged into a waste drum.
