Qualifying Statement for Heating Tunnel

Name: Electric Infrared Oven System Manufacturer: Carlisle Fluid Technologies, BGK Product Line

Brand Name Sole Source Only

Scope This qualifying statement covers the information and requirements for the brand name/sole source procurement of an electric infrared oven system. Infrared oven length is 20’, IR heater motion is fixed, infrared oven configuration is vertical two sides of infrared, and oven position is free standing. Oven includes complete electric infrared oven and controls. Oven will consist of IR heater modules located on both sides of the parts. The oven will utilize T3 quartz lamps emitting full range infrared energy for rapid heating. The Infrared oven will have nine (9) independent zones of lamp control. The electric infrared oven will provide the following benefits: The electric oven will respond by means of optical sensors positioned in front of the oven. When incoming parts trip the sensors, the oven will respond instantly to full operating power. When gaps appear on the line the oven will automatically drop down to a preset idle voltage, waiting, while conserving energy. Multiple lamps zoning inside the infrared oven to allow for fine-tuning of lamp intensity from top to bottom. The oven reflectors to be fabricated from polished aluminum.

Electric Infrared Oven

Heaters – Heater modules will hold the high intensity, full range infrared heating elements. The Infrared oven will be designed in 5’ long electric Infrared modules. The Infrared Oven will consist of four (4) 5’ long free standing oven modules. The Infrared modules are fabricated with polished aluminum reflectors. The Infrared oven includes an exhaust duct with fan on each side.

Lamps - Infrared heater elements (lamps) are designed with low-mass tungsten filaments mounted inside a clear quartz body. The low thermal mass results in quick response and no heat-up time requirements. Full range infrared with peak emittance from .76 to 2.0 microns and longer wavelengths reflecting and re-radiating from the polished aluminum reflectors. Lamp life is estimated at 5,000 hours when operating at full lamp rated voltage. Longer life can be expected when operating at reduced voltage

Lamp Load - Total connected lamp load will be 247.61 kW / 480 volts / 3 Ph / 60 Hz / 297.83 amps. NOTE: Lamp zones will not operate at full rated output kW listed above. Actual lamp zone output (voltage settings) per zone will be determined during the start-up phase. Each zone may have a different voltage setting to optimize heating and minimize energy usage.

Oven Zoning – The Infrared oven to be designed with a total of nine (9) zones of independent lamp control to allow profiling of the heat over the length of the oven to optimize the heating on the parts. Oven to be supplied with one (1) field mounted photo-eye to trigger automatic response of lamp zones for the Infrared oven. The control scheme will have an idle mode, which reduces input voltage to approximately 10% when no product is present in the oven. The idle condition to be triggered by a signal from either the conveyor motion signal or the part present photo-eye. Oven to expend energy only when screen tables are present and in position.

Electric Infrared Oven Control Package

Control Scheme - The BGK control package will centralize the operation of the Infrared oven to a single electrical enclosure. System power level to be adjustable from the cabinet front panel. Process conditions will also be indicated on the front panel. When parts enter the oven, lamps will energize instantly to exact required operating intensity.

Power Controls for the Infrared Oven - Nine (9) independent zones of control in the Infrared oven system for profiling the oven from top to bottom. SCR Controllers: single-phase SCR power controllers. Proportional power regulation provided by solid state control of applied voltage. The heat intensity to be variable over the full range, 0 - 100%, to match process conditions while minimizing power consumption of the heating system itself. Idle mode to reduce the power to a low idle condition automatically if no product flow is going through the oven. BGK to supply the electric eye to actuate the automatic idle circuitry.

Controls: Control to feature instant on/off capabilities. Instant (approximately one second) shutdown in the event of conveyor failure. Instant (approximately one second) starting for maximizing system uptime. System to utilize an operator interface for operator input. Screens to include main menu, control screen, running screen, recipe screen, lamp-out detection screen, shorted SCR screen, and exhaust air flow fault screen. Pass code screens to protect set variable screens. System to use an Allen Bradley MicroLogix for control purposes. System to use an Allen Bradley OIT for control purposes. The controls, including the I/O racks and cards and processor, are to be mounted and prewired in Hoffman floor mounted electrical enclosures.

Processor and I/O racks and cards to be provided by BGK; SCR power control units. Full proportional control phase angle fired. Immediate response to control signal allows for fast power changes. Soft start function limits current draw for twelve (12) cycles (200 ms) producing set point change of one (1) RCcircuit time constant, Automatic voltage regulation compensates for line voltage fluctuations; providing consistent system performance. Disconnect with emergency trip 400 amps. One (1) power receptacle mounted at a convenient location. All necessary relays, starters, fuses, disconnects. All necessary internal communications cables. All necessary components for electrical compliance.

Software to include: Capability of custom heat profiles (recipes), incorporating multiple zoning steps, for individual part styles and coating makeup. Comprehensive fault summary with alarms. Shorted SCR detection to protect the Oven and parts in the event of a shorted SCR. Lamp-out detection to monitor oven for defective emitters. Operator is informed as to which zone is deficient.

Emitters: Fullrange highintensity emitters. Quick response time means immediate changes in power output.

Manuals: Complete operation and service manuals including mechanical assembly drawings, and electrical schematics are provided. Spare parts lists and component information to be included.

*Solid Model will be provided in either native SolidWorks, IGES, or STEP format.

JMMC-DEE (MCAAP Engineering Support Division) will validate and verify equipment before award is granted.
