AMENDMENT 00006
01/08/2018
| PROJECT: | 676-CSI-001 Construct Warehouse | |
| LOCATION: | Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, WI |
Amendment 00006 hereby incorporates the following change(s) into the solicitation package:
A.) VENDOR QUESTIONS, 12/21/2017:
1.) One question has to do with 1.3 quality Assurance and PCI qualification and Certification.
We are asking if an NPCA (National Precast Concrete Association) plant certification would be acceptable in place of the PCI requirements?
VA REPLY: NPCA is an acceptable plant certification.
2.) Second question is to confirm the exterior finish to be produced (finish 1 and 2). What process is use to be produced the two finishes (e.g. sand blast, exposed aggregate, etc.)?
VA REPLY: Detail A8/AE200 provides details on the precast finishes. The picture below also includes color samples. Contractor is required to provide finish samples for approval prior to fabrication.
B.) VENDOR QUESTIONS, 12/26/2017:
1.) Question regarding Specification Section, Part 3.4:
- Part 3.4 EXPOSED WORK INSTALLATION states the following:
A. Unless otherwise indicated on drawings, exposed conduit is only permitted in mechanical and electrical rooms.
This is a warehouse. So, there is no exposed conduit permitted? If not, are all the conduits to be coordinated in the precast walls?
VA REPLY: Conduit may be installed on surface in the warehouse space.
C.) VENDOR QUESTIONS, 12/26/2017:
1.) Sheet AE502, Detail F4 shows a bollard and references F1 on AS503. We do not see a sheet AS503. Please clarify.
VA REPLY: In details F1 & F4/AE502, the proper detail reference for the bollard should be F1/AE504
D.) VENDOR QUESTIONS, 12/26/2017: Please see below questions regarding the Warehouse in Tomah.
1. Stair – Notes in the structural drawings say by others, but I think it’s something we provide. Would this be considered an Industrial Stair per 055100-6, which would be a checker plate tread design or grating tread design?
VA REPLY: The stair can be an open riser stair per 055100-6 (& per IBC code). The notes on the structural drawings that say “by others” refer to “structural engineering design by others”. Stair provided by the contractor must be structurally designed by the supplier as specified. Per spec section 05 51 00, para 2.1.C: Grating treads in accordance with NAAMM Metal Bar Grating Manual
1. Hatch Stair – Would this be considered a ships ladder, or an alternating tread stair? An alternating tread stair is about double the cost of a ships ladder. Also, I’m assuming we are providing the roof guardrail at the hatch.
VA REPLY: The hatch stair should be a ships ladder & guard rail should be galvanized
1. Roof guardrail & CIP stair railings (exterior railings) – What finish on these?
VA REPLY: Per spec section 05 50 00, para 2.2.E.1: pipe should be galvanized.
1. Bollards – I’m counting 20 interior bollards and 8 exterior bollards. The spec does not address bollards. Do you know what finish they are?
VA REPLY: Per spec section 05 51 00, para 2.2.A: pipe should be zinc coated (galvanized). Pipe bollards shall have HDPE plastic covers.
1. It is assumed that the structural part of the roof has been designed to support any uplift created with wind catching the solar panels on the roof. Please confirm.
VA REPLY: The solar panels are a ballasted system, so there should be no structural connections to the roof deck.
E.) VENDOR QUESTIONS, 1/3/2018:
1.) The plans state on sheet notes C. All communications cables shall be installed in conduit or cable tray. Does that include security cables? If so can the same spec for the communications cables be used for the security cables?
VA REPLY: Cable specifications for security are listed in Specification 28 05 13. Per this section, security cables may be contained in either conduit or cable tray, unless otherwise noted on the plans.
