About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the replacement of refrigeration equipment in two walk-in freezers at the USDA-ARS EIDMRU Lab in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The project requires the demolition and disposal of existing refrigeration equipment and the furnishing and installation of new equipment including A2L Scroll-type 4.5hp condensing units (208-230V/3PH/60hz), low-profile electric defrost evaporators with three fans, Carel electronic expansion valves, solenoid and check valves, and replacement control panels such as IntelliGen Field Mount iFM kits. The contractor must also supply and install ACR copper refrigeration piping with brazed joints, refrigerant with POE oil meeting federal Safe Alternatives requirements, elastomeric foam insulation (1" on suction lines, 1/2" on liquid lines) with PVC jacketing, type L copper condensate drain lines, electrical connections for new equipment and defrost coils, refrigeration controls, and comprehensive labeling and tagging of all systems. Additional work includes system startup, leak testing, adjustments, and operator training.

The work must be completed sequentially on one freezer at a time to allow sample relocation between units, with all activities conducted during normal business hours (7am-5pm Monday-Friday) at the USDA facility located at 2615 Yellowstone Drive, Marshfield, WI 54449. Contractors must provide at least one week advance notice before work begins and coordinate scheduling with facility staff. All travel, material delivery, labor, insurance, small tools, rental equipment, and freight must be included in quotes. A minimum 90-day warranty on materials, equipment, and workmanship is mandatory. Personnel working on-site for five or more days must submit to background checks and clearance requirements.
