About this file
This file contains maintenance task lists detailing preventive maintenance procedures for eight different pieces of industrial equipment: Northfield Band Saw, Reel-O-Matic, DoAll, Diehl Ripsaw, Sharp drill press, Laguna Band Saw, and various other machinery.
The task lists specify detailed maintenance procedures, including lubrication requirements, inspection points, and cleaning protocols for each piece of equipment. Key maintenance items include bearing lubrication, belt inspection, guide block checks, chain tensioning, and brake testing. The documents specify exact lubricant types (such as 630AA Lubriplate for ways and lithium-based grease for bearings) and maintenance frequencies (typically annual). Each task list includes a standard note that any replacement parts require COR notification and a separate sub work order, with replacement parts not included in preventive maintenance but oils and greases included. The lists appear to be part of a larger maintenance service contract for DLA Distribution Puget Sound's wood and metal working equipment.

MAINTENANCE TASK LIST #2
TYPE OF EQUIPMENT: Reel-O-Matic, Recommended annual PM:
1. Inspect unit for loose nuts, bolts, or fittings that might have vibrated loose.
Check electrical system for loose or damaged wires, and verify that connections are tight and protected as required.
2. If a coiler is used, lubricate the adapter head.
3. Grease all bearings, shafts and bronze bearing assemblies with industrial grade all-purpose grease.
4. Grease all bearings, wheels, and casters with industrial grade all-purpose grease.
5. Oil chain and slide drive shafts with light oil (P-50 Chain Lube).
6. Inspect drive chains for abnormal wear and adjust tension as required. New chains will loosen up slightly as the joints seat themselves, causing initial elongation which is many times greater that the elongation during the balance of the chain’s life. After the first several weeks of operation it is advisable to adjust the centers, particularly on long center drives. After this initial elongation, with proper care and lubrication, roller chains will give long service without undue elongation or wear.
7. Replace hydraulic oil filters. Also replace suction strainer and filter if needed.
8. Inspect and run machine for proper operation.
NOTE: Any part requiring replacement, COR must be notified and a separate sub work order must be filled out. Replacement parts are not included in the preventive maintenance. Oil and grease shall be included in the preventive maintenance.

MAINTENANCE TASK LIST #6
TYPE OF EQUIPMENT: Diehl Ripsaw
Cleaning the pressure bar
1. Raise pressure bar to highest point.
2. Using compressed air nozzle, blowout dust and debris from inside pressure bar housing.
3. Pull out any sliver accumulation in and around pressure rolls by feel.
Leave pressure bar in highest point.
Cleaning the feed chains
Using compressed air nozzle, blow out dust and debris on top strand of feed chain. Pay particular attention to cleaning dust/oil accumulation in and around feed chain connecting pin areas. Turn power on and advance feed chain to new stationary position. Again disconnect power to the machine. Clean chain as described previously.
Advance feed chain as many times as necessary to clean entire feed chain.
Cleaning the machine
Clean out the saw pit, the area under the saw pit and the area around the machine.
Reset pressure bar in accordance with instructions on page 22 of the repair manual.
Lubrication
Drive can shaft bearing lubrication.
Use pressure grease gun. Grease once each week with one shot of high grade bearing grease. Access through the outfeed opening.
Pressure bar adjusting shaft.
Using grease gun with a good grade of bearing grease, give each grease fitting one shot of grease.
Maintenance
Feed chain and chain race inspection.
With saw blade off the machine and the pressure bar raised to its maximum height, check the amount of wear in the feed chains and chain race. Lay a 10”X1/2”X1”straightedge on edge, across the chains where the saw blade would protrude through. Wear will be most evident at the inside edge of each chain, adjacent to the saw blade.
Check the amount of gap between the straightedge and the chain with a feeler gauge.
010”or less is considered acceptable for a glue line quality cut. If the amount of wear is between .011”and .018”, switch the chains from side to side and recheck. If the amount of wear is more than .018, the feed chains and chain race should be replaced. The old chain race may be recut at the Diehl factory or replaced with a new one.
Pressure bar inspection.
Any pressure bar parts that show excessive wear should be replaced to ensure accurate cutting. Remove the bolt on guards from the front of the pressure bar.
Check pressure bar rolls.
Check the pressure bar rolls. Rotate pressure rolls by hand. They should turn freely with no excessive wear apparent. Side play or free spinning rolls indicate worn bearings, roll shafts or pressure rolls. Pressure bar rolls should not pivot in roll brackets. Worn parts should be replaced immediately. See repair procedure section on replacing rolls.
Check pressure bar level.
The pressure bar rolls should be level with the feed chains from infeed to outfeed end.
Adjust the pressure bar housing for level by using the screw-and-gear assemblies on the front of the pressure bar.
1. Slide a block of steel or surfaced stock under the first infeed pressure roll.
2. Lower the pressure bar until the pressure rolls just touch the block.
3. Slide the block under the last outfeed pressure roll, and check the height. If the infeed and outfeed rolls are not the same height, level the pressure bar.
4. Check all the pressure rolls for even height.
Spindle belt inspection.
1. Remove the spindle belt guard.
2. Check the spindle belt for tension and wear. Worn belts should be replaced immediately.
3. Check the belt tension by-pushing on a side of the belt. There should be 1/2" of play in one side of the belt.
4. See page 46 for tension and replacement procedures.
Brake inspection.
Check the stop time of the saw arbor with blade. The saw blade should come to a complete stop in no less than 3 seconds and no greater than 10 seconds. To check the stop time of the saw arbor with blade:
1. Start the saw arbor with a saw blade installed. Allow the arbor to gain full RPM.
2. Depress the arbor stop push button. Be prepared to clock the time it takes for the arbor to come to a complete stop after depressing the stop push button.
3. Check the amount of time required for the saw arbor with saw blade to come to a complete stop.
NOTE: Always replace the spindle belt guard after brake inspection is complete.
Drive reducer.
The drive reducer requires not lubrication. However, it is recommended to check the drive chain and sprockets for wear, looseness, or alignment.
NOTE: Any part requiring replacement, COR must be notified and a separate sub work order must be filled out. Replacement parts are not included in the
