Simplified Acquisition Statement of Work (SOW)
Statement of Work for Operational Technology Division
1.0 Background
The Machining and Fabrication Group (MFG) designs and produces custom concealment devices and other custom parts to support operations in the field using cutting-edge technology. Due to an ever increasing demand for custom plastic parts, the MFG has continued to fabricate parts using 3D printing technology in-house. The MFG currently has an EOS P395 Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printer which is at its End-Of-Life (EOL). EOL is defined by the manufacturer as being the end of FY23, and they will not longer be supplying support for the machine nor will they be manufacturing parts, materials, and consumables for that machine. As the situation stands, parts are becoming harder to come by for this machine sometimes requiring months of hunting refurbished components to bring the machine back online. In order to maintain continuity of operations, MFG is seeking a replacement machine while minimizing impact to their workflow and infrastructure built around their powder bed fusion 3D printer.
2.0 Scope
In interest of minimizing long term costs and maintaining continuity of operations to able to meet customers’ needs, MFG needs to replace its EOS P395 SLS 3D printer which has reached its EOL. Without this equipment being operational, MFG’s ability to meet the field’s needs is hindered. Many projects across many units and divisions will either fail or be delayed forcing a missed delivery due to the lack of access to an efficient powder bed fusion system. MFG needs to maintain its bandwidth to keep up with demand for 3D printed parts. Therefore, a new powder bed fusion 3D printer, Stratasys’s H350 must be acquired from the manufacturer directly as they do not sell this equipment through their regional network of resellers.
3.0 Objectives
Based upon the details outlined in the Brand Name Justification, the goal is to acquire a new Stratasys H350 from Stratasys to replace the existing powderbed fusion 3D printer configuration featured in the MFG. This new printer will be used to maintain the existing manufacturing capability with minor gains in efficiency. It should be acquired by September 30, 2023 at the latest.
