Statement of Work (SOW) for Caterpillar D-398 Overhaul Kit

70Z080-20-P-P45C19 – CGC TAMPA

This solicitation is restricted to Caterpillar Authorized Parts & Service Centers only. The vendor must provide documentation proving that they are a Caterpillar Authorized Parts & Service Center.

The U.S. Coast Guard is completing an overhaul of a Caterpillar D-398 engine used as a ship service diesel generator onboard CGC TAMPA homeported in Portsmouth, VA.

We require an “overhaul kit” made up of OEM components listed in the enclosed document. We are not requesting any technical support or assistance with this project.

A complete kit must be delivered to the vessels homeport during the week of 20 July 2020. Delivery prior to this week is undesirable due to limited storage space. Delivery cannot be made after this week, as it will negatively affect the project timeline.

Upon completion of the project, all items marked as cores will be returned to the vendor for inspection and acceptance. All cores will be returned (approximately 75 days from kit delivery) in the same packaging the new parts arrived in.

The vendor is responsible for setting up a carrier and associated costs for return shipment of the cores from the vessel’s location to their facility. We will notify the vendor when the cores are ready for shipment so they can dispatch a freight carrier to pick up the material.

Any questions should be directed to Phillip. W. Norris at 757-628-4556 or via email at Phillip.W.Norris@uscg.mil
