About this file

This document contains a specification sheet and related federal contract opportunity for a quality control instrument system. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service Field Research Implementation and Information Delivery Northeast Area is requesting the purchase of a standalone quality control instrument and software that can analyze both RNA and DNA with minimal intervention, excellent reproducibility, and the ability to handle a minimum of 96 samples at a time using 1-2 microliters of sample. The system must be able to switch between RNA and DNA analysis quickly and easily, utilize stock purchases of ScreenTapes and reagents, and have no possibility of cross-contamination between samples. Self-maintenance ability is also a priority due to limited funding. Solicitation number 12305B23Q0097-A provides additional details on the quality control instrument system opportunity, which is seeking a brand name or equal to the 4200 Tapestation system to support ongoing genomic and gene expression research at the Invasive Insect Biocontrol and Behavior Laboratory.

Specification Sheet

QC Instrument System Brand Name or Equal to 4200 TapeStation System

USDA, ARS, Invasive Insect Biocontrol & Behavior Laboratory (IBBL) is requesting the purchase of a standalone instrument and software to perform quality control (QC) of DNA and RNA samples from diverse organisms brand name or equal to the 4200 Tapestation System. The QC instrument can be used for DNA or RNA quantification in routine experiments and library preparation to investigate genome composition and/or gene expression using Next-Generation Sequencing. In addition, the QC instrument will improve the sequencing data consistency due to quantification accuracy and streamlined operation. This project will support the findings from years of research and support new methods for continued research.

The QC Instrument System is a vital equipment that is one of several molecular automated devices involved in our research and protocols.

• The system needs to be able to analyze both RNA and DNA with minimal intervention and excellent reproducibility as well as utilize stock purchases or RNA/DNA ScreenTape and reagents.

• It needs to be able to switch between RNA and DNA quickly and easily.

• Needs to have automated sample processing and be able to handle a minimum of 96 samples at a time.

• Must be able to use low amounts of sample 1ul-2ul for all assays including those of high-sensitivity.

• No possible cross contamination is a must as it needs to have individual sample lanes.

• Due to limited funding self-maintenance ability is priority.
