STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
The NASA THP Snow Program requires maps of snow variables over the SnowEx study areas where airborne lidar and hyperspectral data were collected to help validate snow remote sensing and modeling techniques.
2. Characteristics, Scope, and Specs
The contractor shall perform the following duties:
• Prepare the SnowEx 2020 lidar and hyperspectral data collected over the following locations:
o Upper Gunnison, CO – 1 flight - 2066 km2 o Grand Mesa, CO – 2 flights – 130 km2 o Reynolds Creek, ID – 1 flight – 78 km2 o Lakes Basin, CA – 1 flight – 130 km2
• Estimate snow density to compute SWE
• Process the lidar and hyperspectral data to generate snow depth, SWE, albedo, grain size and impurities products.
• Gridded data products delivered in geotiff format:
o Snow depth maps o Snow water equivalent maps o Snow albedo maps o Snow grain size maps o Snow radiative forcing by impurities maps
• Complete processing in a timely manner to support SnowEx data analysis, so data should be delivered within 3 months of initial data acquisition of the lidar and hyperspectral data.
3. Place of Performance
Airborne Space Observatory, Inc. in Mammoth Lakes, CA
4. Period of Performance
Products shall be delivered three months after initial product delivery from the acquisition contractor for all sites where snow-free data have been provided prior to the
SnowEx snow-on campaign.
