About this file
This is a Scope of Work document for the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Crow Museums, outlining a fine art lighting installation and maintenance project. UTD seeks qualified lighting service providers to install, program, and aim light fixtures for works of art across the Crow Museums galleries located at Crow Flora and the Crow Campus. The project scope includes installation of lighting for changing exhibitions, programming of timers for individual art pieces, aiming light fixtures under the guidance of Collection Managers and Exhibition Designers, and ensuring appropriate light temperature for artwork preservation. The contract will be structured as a three-year initial term with two one-year renewal options, reflecting the ongoing and critical nature of museum lighting operations.
Vendors must submit proposals including detailed rate sheets with flat-rate charges, recurring charges, hourly rates, and overtime rates, along with active and current insurance documentation and certifications. Minimum qualifications require vendors to have been in business for at least ten years with demonstrated continuous work in fine art lighting and installation, and they must provide three references for previous projects with Dallas/Fort Worth museums and galleries completed within the last three years. Vendors should demonstrate expertise in fine art lighting logistics, including knowledge of safe light levels for different artwork types and familiarity with multiple lighting systems at both museums. Preferred affiliation with professional organizations such as the Nasher Sculpture Center, Sixth Floor Museum at the Dealey Plaza, Golden Egg Creative, or Kinfolk House is noted. Suppliers will furnish exhibition-specific estimates detailing labor rates, billable hours, unit costs, descriptions, and project timelines following meetings with Crow Museum staff to discuss work requirements.
