About this file

This statement of work describes requirements for a water purification system for a planetary protection laboratory. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center seeks a system to produce high-purity water from tap water at a rate of at least 1 liter per minute, with a storage capacity of 25 liters or more. Key requirements include using a 110V electrical outlet, wall-mountable design, two dispensers located within 2 meters, water quality meeting or exceeding ASTM D1193 Type I standards, and the ability to continuously produce 20 liters and 100 liters over 24 hours while measuring resistivity or conductivity. The system must be delivered to and installed in Building 5, Room 048A at the Goddard Space Flight Center facility.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Water Purification System for Reagent Lab Water 8 August 2023

PR: __4200845925_____________

Background

• High purity reagent lab water is needed by the Planetary Protection Laboratory in order to support microbiology and molecular biology assays. The current water purification system in the lab does not have the sufficient purification throughput to support upcoming missions.

Scope

• The procurement is for a water purification system to produce high-purity water from tap water at a rate and of sufficient quantity to expand existing capacity.

Requirements

1. The water purification system shall use cold tap water supplied to building 5, room

048A as the source of water supply.

2. The water purification system shall operate on 110 volt, 15 amp, 60 Hz nominal electrical power (standard electrical outlet).

3. The water purification system shall have two dispensers for ultrapure water to be located up to 2 meters from the system.

4. The water purification system shall include a storage tank with a capacity of at least

25L

5. The water purification system, and storage tank, shall be wall mountable

6. The high purity water dispensers shall meet the following performance requirements:

6.1. Dispensing rate of 1 liter per minute minimum,

6.2. Water quality equivalent to ASTM D1193 Type I or better (distillation not required),

6.3. Produce 20 liters or more continuously,

6.4. Produce 100 liters or more in a 24 hour period,

6.5. Measure and display the water resistivity or conductivity while dispensing, and

6.6. Perform final filtration with a 0.22 µm or finer filter.

Place of Performance

• The water purifier system shall be delivered to in Building 5, Room 048A on the Goddard Space Flight Center Greenbelt facility.
