About this file
This document is a Statement of Work (SOW) for air filtration upgrades to the existing quail breeding facility at the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge (BANWR) in Arivaca, Arizona.
The SOW outlines the need to remove and replace one air filtration unit in Building 1's "mature" quail room, install one new air filtration unit in Building 1's "chick" room, and install one new air filtration unit in each of the two "mature" quail rooms in Building 2. The new air filtration units shall be equivalent to the current Grizzly G9956 Heavy-Duty Double Air Filter with Remote Control Unit, with minimum performance specifications of a 1/3 HP motor, 1400 CFM (1200RPM) airflow capacity, 2-stage filtration, and a sound rating.
This SOW is in support of the related federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number 140FGA24Q0017, for the HVAC ventilation upgrades at the BANWR, issued by the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service.

STATEMENT OF WORK
Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge (BANWR) Existing Quail Breeding Facility Air Filtration Upgrades
Arivaca, Arizona April, 2024
BACKGROUND SUMMARY/NEED
Buenos Aires NWR is a remote station located in southwestern Arizona. The Refuge protects the wildlife habitat in Southern Arizona, primarily to conserve endangered species of quail along with the native wildlife, and is located about an hour South of Tucson, Arizona. The refuge’s current quail breeding facility has two buildings which require air filtration upgrades. Due to inadequate indoor air quality, the facility requires one air filtration unit to be removed and replaced and the installation of three additional air filtration units.
PROJECT NEED DESCRIPTIONS
1. Building 1: Building 1 has two rooms which require air filtration units. The
“mature” quail room requires removal and replacement of one air filtration unit.
The “chick” room requires installation of one new air filtration unit.
2. Building 2: Building 2 has two “mature” quail rooms. Each room requires the installation of one new air filtration unit.
3. Air Filtration Units: New units shall be equivalent to the current existing Grizzly
G9956 Heavy-Duty Double Air Filter with Remote Control Unit. Minimum Performance Specifications noted below:
a. Motor: 1/3 HP
b. Airflow Capacity: 1400 CFM (1200RPM)
c. Filtration: 2-Stage
d. Sound Rating: <85 dB
e. Feature: Remote Control
4. Air Filters: Contractor to supply one additional set of filters per unit installed.
Additional filter shall meet the minimum performance specification noted below:
a. Primary Filter Rating: 5 Micron
b. Secondary Filter Rating: 1 Micron
5. Power Supply: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service requires a licensed Arizona state electrician to complete all electrical work.
NOTE: This effort is for a facility housing a critically endangered species. This will require strict operational and scheduling protocols all to be directed and supervised by refuge staff.
Prior to submitting a proposal, government strongly suggests contractors conduct a site visit to assess existing conditions and take field measurements. Upon completion of project, and before staff final walkthrough, contractor to clean entire site (interior and exterior) of all project waste and debris.
