About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center seeking eleven (11) new 20-ft ISO Hi-Cube shipping containers specifically designed for transporting and storing MTU 4000 Series M92L diesel engines for the 154 ft SENTINAL class WPB (Waterborne Patrol Boat). The containers must have removable rigid tops with spray-tight seals, steel floors capable of welding structural components, and be certified for worldwide travel. Each container requires its own serial number, CSC plate, and must be painted gray (Federal Standard color 36463) in accordance with specified military packaging standards.
The solicitation (Number 70Z04025Q60560Y00) is a best value procurement with a firm fixed price purchase order, requiring delivery no later than December 5, 2025, to the U.S. Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center in Baltimore, MD. Vendors must have an active SAM.gov registration, submit invoices through IPP (Invoice Processing Platform), and comply with specific packaging, marking, and quality assurance requirements. The containers will be used in a maintenance cycle where engines are periodically removed from ships, overhauled, and stored until needed for reinstallation, with the containers protecting and restraining the engines during transit and storage.

ENGINE CONTAINER, REUSABLE for MTU 20V 4000 SERIES M93L DIESEL ENGINE
1.0 SCOPE
1.1. General – This Scope of Work (SOW) sets forth the requirements for the fabrication, and inspection of reusable shipping and storage containers for the MTU 4000 Series M92L diesel engine. These containers will protect and restrain the engines in transit and in storage.
1.2. Background – The maintenance philosophy for the main diesel engines (MDE) on the 154 ft SENTINAL class WPB entails periodically removing the engines from the ships and replacing them with new or overhauled engines from a rotating pool. The removed engines then travel to a repair depot for overhaul. After overhaul the engines go into storage, until required for installation in another ship, completing the cycle. The containers acquired under this SOW will protect and restrain the engines in transit and storage.
