About this file
This is a Sole Source Justification Letter dated 16 April 2026 from the 82nd Security Forces Squadron, Air Education and Training Command, Department of the Air Force.
The 82nd Security Forces Squadron is acquiring six (7) Smart Shooter SMASH 2000LE Advanced Fire Control weapon sights to enhance installation security against a wide range of threats and provide a kinetic engagement option. Smart Shooter Ltd. is identified as the sole-source manufacturer and exclusive provider of this system. The justification states that while many fire control systems are specialized for niche applications such as long-range targeting or fixed platforms, the SMASH 2000LE is uniquely versatile and represents the most effective option for addressing diverse threats to a CONUS installation. AETC funding may be available for the purchase. The document indicates no competitive alternatives exist and identifies Smart Shooter Ltd. as both the manufacturer and sole provider, with no actions specified to remove barriers to competition for future acquisitions. The justification was approved by Section Chief Kyle J. Contreras on 18 June 2026 and certified as accurate by Contracting Officer Kimberly L. Rico.
