Overall EG Project Goal:
Increased Trade and Investment in Selected Industries
(CDCS DO 2)
Activity Purpose:
Improved Competitiveness in Selected Agricultural value Chains (IR 2.2)
Sub-Purpose 1 - Expand trade and strengthen export linkages to domestic, regional and international markets for targeted value chains
Outputs:
Increased exports of assisted enterprises/producer groups in selected agricultural value chains Increased awareness/knowledge of the Moldova HVA sector brands in targeted markets;
New linkages with local supermarkets through long-term contractual arrangements
New international export market contracts facilitated on behalf of assisted enterprises/producer groups Export market linkages established for at least 3 new markets Expanded number of value-added agricultural products meeting international quality and food safety standards
Increased knowledge and use of market information by agribusinesses in targeted value chains
Sub-Purpose 2:
Improve productivity, post-harvest handling and private sector capacity to comply with European/international standards in targeted value chains
Sub-purpose 2.1 Improved adoption of innovative technologies/agricultural practices in targeted
Sub-purpose 2.2 Improved private sector compliance with international/EU food/quality standards
Outputs Increased private sector capacity for product certification and standardization in line with EU standards and market requirements;
Increased adoption of new production/PHH technologies and management practices among farmers, processors, groups;
Increased producer access to market-demanded plant varieties and agricultural inputs;
Sub-Purpose 3- Strengthen capacities of member-based groups (producer groups, WUAs) and industry associations offering high-value services to their members in targeted value chains
Outputs:
Increased management and organizational capacity of associations or member-based organizations in targeted value chains
Increased number of new/additional services that members can access from industry associations/WUAs
Export-promotion/TA programs launched and managed by industry associations
Expanded membership base of group-based organizations
Increased sales (domestic and export) via group-based organizations, WUAs, sector associations
Sub-Purpose 4 - Improve enabling environment leading to increased investments and improved workforce in key value chains
Sub- purpose 4.1 Increased private sector linkages with the education/research sector leading to a competitive workforce in targeted value chains.
Sub-purpose 4.2 Increased private sector investments through PPPs addressing critical value chain gaps
Outputs:
• Improved linkages between the agricultural education sector and the farming/processing sector;
• New up-to-date courses and other skills development programs to meet industry needs are implemented
• New PPP established mobilizing public and private sector resources into targeted value chains
• New PPP models developed in targeted sectors
• Increased sector access to donor infrastructure investment funds (credit lines, grants, etc.)
