Statement of Need:

Background:

Automated titrations are currently used at the Analytical Trace Element Chemistry Laboratory (ATECL) to measure alkalinity in environmental and research samples. The ATECL currently has one automatic titrator and analyzes approximately 800 samples annually. The automatic titrator currently used for these analyses is 15 years old and has showed signs of decreasing reliability. The purchase of a new automatic titrator will allow the ATECL to continue to provide reliable alkalinity data to their customers in a timely manner.

Scope

This specification covers the requirements for the purchase of an automatic titrator, which shall include installation of the analyzer at the ATECL, all required software, warranty, and training of ATECL staff.

Requirement:

The titrator will be used to analyze filtered environmental water samples for alkalinity. The instrument will be used for a range of environmental samples including groundwater, agricultural runoff, marsh, lake and river waters.
