SECTION C: DESCRIPTION/SPECIFICATIONS/STATEMENT OF WORK
STATEMENT OF WORK
Project to Re-roof Maintenance Building No. 247
At Dennehotso Boarding School Dennehotso, Apache County, Arizona
Statement of Work Summary:
The Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Arizona Navajo North (Western Navajo) Agency Facility Management Office solicits licensed Construction Contractors to furnish and install a new roof assembly on the Facility Maintenance Shop Building No. 247 located at Dennehotso Boarding School as specified herein.
Scope of Work Parameter(s):
As specified in this Statement of Work (SOW), the new roof installation project shall comprise of a new fully adhered, single-ply, 60-mil TPO membrane, color of membrane shall be “White.” TPO shall be installed over new high density polyisocyanurate insulation board and tapered insulation system sloped at a minimum of 1/8” per foot installed over a sturdy and dry wood deck. The roof will be sloped from the center toward roof edge to create positive drainage (no ponding water). Roof membrane and flashing shall terminate on top of roof edge. Install new seamless rain gutter at front and back with metal downspouts and concrete splash blocks/pads. All new metal flashing (drip edge), gutters and downspouts shall be 24-gauge pre-finished metal and metal color shall be selected by Dennehotso Facility Manager or School Principal. As part of the contracted re-roofing project, the successful Contractor shall also include shop drawing details illustrating how they propose to terminate the roof membrane on top of roof edge and seamless rain gutter attachment to the roof, flashing around one plumbing pipe vent, and cross-sectional view of roof insulation and tapered insulation system. Furthermore, all work and installation shall also be performed per manufacturer’s specifications and protocols, including industry standard practices. As relevant to the systems being used on this project.
The existing roof assembly appears to be a built-up roof assembly with pea gravel surfacing. Telephone wire, fire alarm light/conduit and electric service mast is attached to the metal gravel stop and fascia at roof edge. Existing roof assembly shall be removed down to the wood deck including mechanical and plumbing exhaust vents, metal drip edge, and other roofing materials shall be removed down to roof deck.
Permanently remove two mechanical vent pipes penetrating the wood deck including the metal flashing. All removed roof debris/waste material including membrane, insulation (if any), and metal drip edge and dispose of at an EPA-Approved disposal site located off Navajo Nation lands. The Contractor shall coordinate and pay for the removal and re-installation of any wiring or equipment mounted on the existing roof. It’s permissible to reuse clean (trash-free) loose pea gravel by placing it in a pile on the ground or spread it out to fill in low areas as recommended by Facility Maintenance staff. Suggested Deck Repair Method: where two abandoned mechanical pipe vents were permanently removed and prior to new roof system installation, permanently repair wood deck by cutting out a 12”x 12” square piece of 5/8” treated plywood and from 2x lumber (same thickness) as T&G decking cut-out a round piece of lumber same diameter as hole to be repaired; center the round piece on the plywood piece and securely fasten. Install the repair piece fitting the round piece into the hole in the 2x T&G wood deck, see attached suggested detail on sheet 2 of 2. Coordinate (as needed) with NTUA staff with temporarily loosening electric service mast and carefully move the fire alarm red light fixture and conduit out of the way while removing and installing drip edge/metal fascia. New rain gutter will need to be install up to electric service pipe on each side of the mast pipe. For questions relating to the electric service, contact NTUA at their central switchboard (928) 729-5727 and they will transfer your call to NTUA, Kayenta District Office, Kayenta, Arizona.
Technical assistance with this re-roofing project will be provided by BIE staff, Arizona Navajo North (Western Navajo) Agency Facility Management Office; thus, the roof design and other technical/material submittals shall be submitted to this office for review and approval. Any questions relating to SOW, contact Evert Paul or Marlon Holiday, Technical Representative at 928-209-9762.
