Acquisition Plan Action ID: 36C255-23-AP-1030
1. Contracting Activity:
Network Contracting Office (NCO) 15, 3450 S 4th Street Trafficway, Leavenworth, KS 66048
Department of Veterans Affairs, Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center, 4101 South 4th Street, Leavenworth, KS 66048-5014
2. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount:
Leavenworth VAMC is needing to replace 12 Follett Symphony Ice and Water dispensers to support the needs of the patient care areas, the Domiciliary, Community Living Center and other outbuilding on campus.
3. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used:
This is Brand Specific requirement for Follett ice machines as they are the existing equipment utilized at the Leavenworth VAMC.
The staff of the HVAC/R Shop have been factory trained in diagnosing issues and the maintenance and repair of Follett Ice Machines only. Parts are interchangeable with our current Follett ice machine. In addition, we have shelf stock that would be wasted if we replaced present machines with a brand other than Follett. The vendor must be an authorized distributor of Follett.
Follett uses AGION antimicrobial technology in all critical components which gives them inherent 24/7 protection against bacteria in produced ice. Follett ice machines produce CHEWBLET ice which is preferred over cubes for patient care. Automatic flushing and 1 hour cleaning of Follett ice machines provide greater degree of energy and maintenance savings.
4. Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted:
