About this file
This document is a sole source justification for a contract to provide maintenance services for a Mako Robotic Arm system owned by the Department of Veterans Affairs Syracuse VA Medical Center. The contract would be awarded to Stryker Corporation as the original equipment manufacturer of the Mako Robotic Arm, and only Stryker factory trained technicians can properly service the proprietary equipment. The base year of performance is from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024 with four optional one-year extensions. Pricing is set at $118,000 for the base year increasing incrementally each optional year to $143,430 for the final optional year, totaling $652,025 over five years if all options are exercised. The justification cites the proprietary nature of Stryker's equipment and services as requiring a sole source award under FAR 6.302-1 with no other responsible source available. Market research found no other capable vendors and the price was determined fair based on a similar existing contract.
