About this file

This is a bid documents package for the Florence-Darlington Technical College Main Campus Signage project, a comprehensive campus wayfinding and identification initiative located in Florence, South Carolina. The project encompasses the design and installation of 119 exterior signs across multiple types including monument cabinet signs, dimensional character signs, post-and-panel signs, post-and-cabinet signs, wall-mounted cabinet signs, and dimensional cutout characters. Sign types are categorized by function: campus identification (4 signs), street identification (10 signs), primary directional signage (15 signs), parking identification (23 signs), campus map displays (5 signs), walk identification (14 signs), secondary directional signage (14 signs), building identification with flush mounting (6 signs), building identification with wall mounting (25 signs), and branding signage (3 signs). The project manual dated July 23, 2024, specifies that some signs will be illuminated while others will utilize reflective vinyl, and all signage must comply with the International Building Code 2021 Edition for structural performance and wind load requirements.

The specification requires manufacturers to provide comprehensive qualifications including executive summaries, firm profiles, client references, project team credentials, project examples with photos, quality and safety management documentation, web-based sign management platforms for asset management and final approvals, and CPA-reviewed financial statements covering three years. All materials are specified with manufacturers' standards for aluminum finishes using baked-enamel or powder-coat finishes per AAMA 2603 with a minimum dry film thickness of 1.5 mils, acrylic sheets meeting ASTM D4802, and UV-resistant vinyl films. The basis-of-design products reference Takeform or comparable approved alternatives by manufacturers including ACE Sign Systems, APCO Graphics, and ASI Sign Systems. Installation requirements include site surveys to verify mounting conditions, field measurements of anchorage devices and electrical service, concrete bases with footings for monument and post-and-panel signs, and direct-burial methods for certain sign types with posts set plumb within 1/16-inch tolerance in 3 feet. The manufacturer provides a five-year special warranty from the date of substantial completion covering material and workmanship failures, and the project includes maintenance material submittals such as replacement text inserts, interchangeable characters, and specialty assembly tools.
