Bldg. 302 Boiler Room Louver Replacement Statement of Work 7/9/2014

Project:ऀBLDG. 302 Boiler Room Louver Replacement

LOCATION:ऀBLDG. 302

COR: ऀJohn Filano

The upper and lower louvers in the boiler room of bldg. 302 are original to the building and need to be replaced. Due to numerous changes to the boiler plant over the years the upper louvers have become inaccessible. The upper louvers will be blocked off and new air intakes installed in the roof of bldg. 302. The lower louvers have failed over the years and also need to be replaced.

Objectives:

The objective is to obtain a Mechanical Contractor to remove the existing upper and lower louvers and replace them per the requirements of this contract.

Construction Contractor Requirements:

Provide construction services to perform necessary mechanical, fabrication, rigging, electrical, and piping work.

Construction statement of work:

The contractor shall provide all the necessary services, including labor, materials, equipment, supplies and supervision as necessary, but not limited to the following, to fulfill the requirements of this project.

Job Specific Safety Plan: The contractor shall submit a job specific safety plan prior to startup of work. Contractor to obtain a burn permit (x6190) prior to starting any hot work.

Roof Intakes: Furnish all labor and materials required to install eight (8) - 60” x 120” roof mounted hooded Gravity air intake hoods. Hoods to include roof curb, motor operated damper(s), and 120 volt motor operators (2 ea. Unit). Basis of design is Greenheck model FGI hooded gravity intake, Greenheck roof curb GPI-G18 with damper tray and liner, Greenheck VCD-23 low leakage dampers with drive arraignment Drive-CC-31-2FIL-2, and 120 volt Belimo motor operator model AFBUP. Note: actuator to be Belimo only, no substitutions. 120 volt power will be from existing circuits at junction boxes inside plant at column lines 15, 19, 20, 21, and 22. Note: junction boxes are approximately 26 feet above floor with moderate to difficult accessibility. Disconnect power inside JB to existing upper damper motors and abandon. Run new ¾” EMT conduit, with 2 #12 THHN and #12 ground or 12-2 w/g mc cable from JB to bottom of roof opening(s). Transition to liquid tight conduit and fittings for operators below opening and run to damper motors (2 each hood). Control of dampers will be from existing switches that previously controlled upper wall dampers, located on same columns about 4 feet above finish plant floor. Cut existing built up roof to

PAGE 5 OF 15 SB1341-14-RP-0050/002

accommodate new openings. Weld a length of 8 x 11.5 C channel to underside of roof on the one unsupported side of opening. Prime and paint white channel. Repair and seal roof water tight upon curb installation. Do not cut roof in more penetrations that can be sealed or protected from water or leaks in one work day. A crane will be required to move equipment to roof. Roof height is approximately 30 feet above ground level. Personnel access with be thru roof hatch/ladder from inside plant. Refer to drawing 302-492. Note: roof work must be finished before starting upper louver blank off panels.

Equipment specifications as follows:

1. Hooded gravity intake: throat width 60”, throat length 120”, curb cap width 66”, curb cap length 126”, base height 5”, Aluminum housing (not galvanized), aluminum bird screen ¾” x 1 ¼” diamond shape, ½” fiberglass hood insulation. Shipped in sections.

2. Roof curb: Galvanized construction (18 ga), cap width 66”, cap length 126”, flange width 68.5”, flange length 128.5”, height 18”, 1” x 3# density insulation with internal metal liner, damper tray 120” x 60”.

3. Control damper: Assembled size 120” x 60”, blade action parallel, frame type channel, material galvanized, axle material steel, axle bearing 304 SS, linkage material steel, blade seal TPE, jamb seal material 304 SS, frame thickness 16 ga., actuator mount internal, actuator location left side, fail position closed, pressure rating 0.5”wg, Velocity 3,000 fpm, leakage Class 1A @1“wg @ up to 5”wg.

4. Actuator: spring return, torque rating at rated voltage 180 in. lbs., timing- motor less than 75 seconds, spring timing- less than 20 seconds @-4° to 122° F, Nema 2 housing, power consumption running 7W, power consumption holding 3.5 W, voltage input 24 to 240

VAC.

All work shall be performed in accordance with applicable OSHA, NEC, ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NIST safety requirements. All roof workers shall be tied off with appropriate safety harness. Any work inside plant above 8 feet shall have appropriate safety harness and tied off.

Upper Louver Blank Off Panels: Furnish all labor and materials required to install 6mm (1/4”) aluminum composite metal wall panels on the east and west side of Building 302 to blank off the upper louvers. Refer to drawing 302-493 and attached specification section 07 42 43. On the west side of building, remove and dispose of, the five, 4’x8’x3/4 foam board panels and steel studs that were temporarily installed to blank off louvers. Personnel working off lift shall have appropriate safety harness and be tied off.

Remove Lower Louvers: Inside the boiler room, remove and dispose of the operable louvers (including rough buck frame), bird screens, motor operators, and blank off panels as shown on drawing 302-495. Note that accessibility will be moderate to difficult due to existing equipment, piping, etc. A site visit is strongly encouraged prior to bidding work.

Repair grout and thoroughly clean area inside wall openings. Furnish all labor and materials required to install new insect screens (outside) and new dampers and new Belimo operators inside. Fabricate and install flashing, angles, and close-off plates between areas of new dampers and existing louvers that are to remain. Caulk and seal all areas around new dampers and existing building. Refer to drawing 302-495 and 302-494. Note on Belimo motors: factory shipped with ½” shaft adapter, this will have to be removed to accept 1” jackshaft. Follow manufactures instructions.
