About this file
This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of a replacement residual gas analyzer (RGA) system for NASA Glenn Research Center's Small-scale Multipurpose Research Facility (SMiRF).
The objective is to replace an existing RGA system that suffers from software compatibility limitations preventing integration with current operating systems and data management requirements. The replacement system must provide continuous monitoring and characterization of gaseous environments within vacuum-based systems to diagnose leaks, detect contamination, monitor outgassing, and verify vacuum quality. The required deliverables include: one HAL 201 RC system with mass range to 200 amu and Faraday/Channeltron electron multiplier (Part No. RC 1.2 / 144100); one filament kit with three oxide-coated iridium twin filament assemblies and accessories (Part No. RS 6.1.4 / 201600); and one set of 15-meter RF/Controller and Multiplier Supply cables (Part No. RCB 7.1.15/RCB 7.3.15). Engineering requirements include atomic mass range of 1–200 AMU, detection limit ≤10⁻¹² Torr, electron multiplier and Faraday detector, operating pressure to at least 10⁻⁴ Torr, dynamic range ≥10⁷, UHV-compatible construction, connection port size ≤3-3/8" Conflat, and separated measurement head from power supply/controller. Software must include perpetual licensing with user-installable upgrades, single-seat capability with multiple terminal access, leak detection mode for individual gas species identification with operator alerts, and data export functionality in raw or engineering units. Additional requirements include a calibration report at delivery, vendor proof of existing product line with similar scope and technical requirements with client references, NASA facility engineer approval before procurement, detailed installation instructions for NASA technicians, and service and support for unit commissioning, training, and troubleshooting. Delivery must be to NASA Glenn Research Center at 21000 Brookpark Road, Cleveland, OH 44135, with acceptance by Jonathan Kubiak. The period of performance is 12 weeks as soon as possible (ARO).

STATEMENT OF WORK
1. Objective/Requirements
The Small-scale Multipurpose Research Facility (SMiRF) operates vacuum-based systems that require continuous monitoring and characterization of the gaseous environment to ensure system performance, process reliability, and equipment integrity. Accurate identification and quantification of residual gases within these vacuum systems are critical for diagnosing leaks, detecting contamination, monitoring outgassing, and verifying vacuum quality during operations and maintenance activities.
The existing residual gas analyzer (RGA) is being replaced due to software compatibility limitations that prevent effective integration with current operating systems and data management requirements. These compatibility issues have reduced the system’s reliability restricted access to vendor support and software updates, and limited the facility’s ability to efficiently collect, analyze, and archive vacuum system data. Replacement of the RGA will restore full functionality, improve system maintainability, and ensure continued support for vacuum diagnostics and monitoring activities.
