About this file

This is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the procurement of a high-fidelity Martian regolith simulant for research and scientific applications at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.

The required deliverable is a research-grade Mars global regolith simulant engineered to replicate the physical, chemical, and mineralogical characteristics of Martian surface material for scientific, engineering, and biological studies. The simulant must meet specific technical specifications: particle size range greater than 0.04 micrometers to 1000 micrometers with Martian surface representative particle size distribution; bulk density between 1.3 and 1.4 g/cm³; angle of repose between 30 and 40 degrees; and mineralogy comprising at least 95% of total weight including anorthosite, glass-rich basalt, bronzite, olivine, Mg-sulfate, ferrihydrite, hydrated silica, and magnetite. The contractor must deliver 1000 kilograms of the simulant within two months of contract award and ship it to Marshall Space Flight Center, Building 4605, Room 8, Huntsville, Alabama 35812. The period of performance is March 2026 through May 2026.
