About this file

This is a Statement of Work for a NASA contract with Glimpse Engineering, Inc. to support quality assessment of 200 Panasonic NCR18650GA battery cells using CT scanning technology. The work will be performed over a 6-week period at ATP (Authority to Proceed). NASA's point of contact is located at NASA-JSC Central Receiving B420 in Houston, Texas, while the vendor is based in Somerville, Massachusetts.

The vendor must perform CT scans on all 200 cells using 16 micrometers or better resolution with 2-minute scan durations per cell, with each cell tracked by serial number. The deliverable includes automated analysis identifying can wall thickness (including dents and eccentricity), jellyroll buckling and core circularity, insufficient negative electrode overhang, housing damage (quantified by crimp height and groove gap), and metallic contamination in the electrodes. These specific quality metrics will enable NASA to comprehensively assess the integrity and manufacturing quality of the battery cells.
